I think I've seen this photo a few times somewhere before from other people. I finally discovered it on the trail to Franklin Falls today. Definitely stood out among the trees with it's barn red color. If I were the home owner, though, I might get rid of that tree blocking the third from right window....

I think I've only seen one or two Halloween Pennants before today when we saw many dozens of them in the prairie section of Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington. It was a bit breezy and I ended up getting this view from behind as the dragonfly struggled for a better grip. I think this is a female with yellow colored stigma (small colored sections of the wings near the tips) versus magenta coloring that males would have. Hennepin County, MN 06/25/22

Think of a beautiful, charming, romantic city in Europe. Quickly, name 3 of them; yes. Paris. Rome. London. Maybe Prague or Vienna.

But you'll never hear them say 'Ljubljana'. This photograph features the old town of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, another mystery on the world map. In fact, most people confuse Slovenia with Slovakia. Others think Slovenia has something to do with Russia. Can't say I blame them. Slovenia is small indeed, poorly recognized little green corner of land, squeezed between Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and a tiny splash of the Adriatic Sea. Fly over it, blink once and you may miss it altogether. With a population of barely 2 million people, Slovenia most likely won't make it to the top of your travel destinations, but it really should. Slovenia is, quite accurately put, the garden of Eden. Within a 2 hour stretch of driving to the South, East, West or East, you'll witness the wonders of nature crafted to perfection, at any month of the year. Incredible glacial blue lakes and rivers, caves and mountains, idyllic villages nestled among the sleepy, misty green hills, endless stretches of green forests and meadows, vineyards and fields, even some blue sea, medieval towns and castles...I could go on and on. Still mostly untouched by the big wave of tourism, Slovenia is that little piece of land that shouldn't have existed in the heart of the modern, overbuilt and over exploited world. But somehow it does.

It's funny though; when I was a kid, I never thought Ljubljana looked like a particularly beautiful city, or Slovenia as a strikingly gorgeous country.

To me, like to many other citizens of Slovenia, it was simply home. A place where we went to school. Where we worked. Where we went to hospital and every now and then, to a graveyard. A place to pay our bills and do our groceries. It was a place where we waited for the bus to arrive, where we queued in the bank.

But those days are like a distant memory now. I haven't lived in Slovenia for decades and during this time, I've seen a lot of the world. My life as a kid from Ljubljana is put in perspective now and I am getting a lot more appreciative of the simpler things in life. Among them, is my love for my family, friends and my Slovenia. Yes, Slovenia never looked more beautiful than it does to me right now.

I had shot the gay parade over 1000 pictures , I have posted some of them at Flickr , but I have yet to post over 750 more to my Gay Prade set 2009...

I would copy the Flickr link to Facebook, as most of the Facebook members committed and part of the gay community including my Hijra Guru Laxmi Narayan Tripathi dont access Flickr..I like Facebook, but because of overreaching the limit of links I was told in no easy terms by the Facebook team my account would be disabled for spamming..me a positive spam.

I will in a few minutes reach 89000 photo blogs at Flickr .and at least Flickr does not consider me a positive spam yet.

So as a poet this kick on my black ass hit me hard and I have emotionalized it in pedestrian verse..dedicating it to Mr Mark Zuckerburg..

I am not into porn, I am not into groups either at Flickr or Facebook..

But three places which are home away from home

is Flickr , Facebook and Twitter.

I had earlier thought of deleting my Facebook account ..but than it would be my loss , as my friends are all Facebook hard core fans ..

Rayo my childhood friend of 50 years known as Ray Framroze says he only browses Facebook and no other site..

I think this is "Rabbit's foot clover" (Trifolium arvense) but I am not sure.

We were walking along a very busy highway today, seeing what was growing in the ditches, and there were carpets of this stuff growing. From a distance, it's just a grey dusty thing but, close up, it's lovely.

I think I made a new friend today. Normally, the fledglings fly off as soon as they see someone looking at them. This little one flew up onto the branch and was watching me as I walked by. Its sibling was about 100 feet back in the swamp, and one of the adults was about 200 feet back, sleeping.

I think I've created a monster! Shantel hadn't shot in about 20 years until we hooked up and now it's like we're shooting 1-2 times a month. I'm not complaining at all - she gets better and more comfortable at each shoot. This shoot she started off wearing flannel and then tried on a fun coat that she fell in love with. We ended up in a chicken coop. Don't ask. We did this shoot in late November and it was definitely cold outside. The things we do for art!

A perfect Autumn's day comes to an end at Ullapool Harbour, Scotland. This is a 6 shot hand held pano with frames taken in portrait orientation then cropped at a 2:1 ratio. I normally prefer to have the horizon dead centre on my pano's but the cloud formations were so impressive I just had to include more sky - hopefully the composition works.

I think that's one of the closest close-ups I have taken of Linus so far. He has quite a perfect pink nose, no scars yet. Taking photos of his nose is an easy thing to do as eyes and nose always follow the bugs. :)
