Sometimes I get comfortable doing something a certain way. I stop trying the new or play around with settings. I stop thinking about what I'm doing.

When it comes to photos, I am a HUGE control freak. Manual. Always. So I'm not sure what made me think to use the shake to shuffle feature on the Hipstamatic camera but I did.

I took a photo, shook the camera, it randomly chose the film, lens and flash then I took another photo. I think I did this for half hour or so.

After about 20 shots or so I took some time to look at how they came out.

First photo, horrible.

Second even worse.

The third shot was horrid as well as the fourth which I think combined my least favorite lens with my least favorite film and flash.

But then the fifth wasn't too bad and the six shot was amazing to me. The random combination used to treat the shot, I don't think I ever really would have used.

It made me stop and think for a minute. It gave me new ideas. It gave me inspiration. -

-

It also gave me the thought to reach down to the dog laying next to me and grab his chew toy he was gnawing and chuck it across the backyard. Which I don't think was the best idea since he had to run directly over me to fetch it. -

Today is my first day on the 365 day project! I'm so excited.

I figured I'd use my first picture as a little peek inside my world, of who I am. So, here I am! Along with my photo I will give you a few fun facts about me so the flickr world can get to know me a little better....

- I'm a yogurt freak. It's basically the only thing I ever eat.

- My hair is naturally curly, I straighten it everyday. (Don't ask me why.)

- I'm a preschool teacher. I have 6 one year olds in my classroom. I don't know how I do it, but I do.

- I love books!

- I enjoy music (like everyone else), but I'm more of an instrumental kinda gal. I love music simply for the music played, not the words or singing. Classical is my favorite music ever.

- I'm a yankee at heart. I lived in Connecticut all my life up until 3 years ago.

Anyways, that's all I can think of for now.

As for today, things are better. I have everything done that was on my list of things to do. I'm a good teacher. So good that one of my kid's parents are reporting me to corporate for how well I do with their child. I'm excited about that. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly again tomorrow.

Sorry this was so long. (Tomorrow's Friday!!)

l didn't really want to cut the lawn anyway.

Visited Sheldrake's at Heswall on the Dee estuary this evening, I think I must have brought at least 10lb of mud home on my boots.

So, betcha didn't think I'd come back to this, huh. Ngl, I didn't think I would either, but, well, here we are. Switched over to mecabricks for these, just cos I seem to have the teensiest bit of an addiction to it. So, the Clone war continues, now entering its fifth year. The Galaxy is more divided than ever, and this year is a turning point. The Republic is changing, becoming more like an Empire. With each passing day, the Supreme Chancellor becomes more powerful, tightening his grasp on the galaxy. So, let's delve into the forces at play (L to R):

Senate guards - They don't really impact the story too much, just needed something to edge the main figs. Really happy with how they came out, really like the helmets. They do have faces, so I imagine they would play a role, if only minor. They serve the Supreme Chancellor as body guards, though they are slowly being phased out, replaced by new guards with crimson robes.

Aayla Secura - Won't lie, she doesn't really need to be here. She remained with the jedi faction still loyal to the Republic, leading its troops into battle. Maybe she felt obligated due to her loyalty to her troops, or perhaps her respect for Master Skywalker, who also remained.

The first Sister - A dark and mysterious new player in the war, the first sister moves covertly, like a shadow in the night. Her identity is a mystery, though there are rumours. Most likely, she is a fallen jedi, though which one is disputed. On an unrelated note, Barriss Offee's cell is empty, the former Jedi knight transfered to a more secure prison, though which one is unknown.

Anakin Skywalker - An attempted assassination of the Supreme chancellor by the rebellion (I'll come back to this) left Skywalker grievously wounded. Luckily, thanks to cutting edge Republic medicine and technology, he is rebuilt, stronger than ever, even if it came at a price. with burns covering almost his entire body, he is almost permanently encased in a dark suit, reflecting his inner self more and more. He's angrier too, often brutal in battle. there are rumours among the clones that his eyes turn yellow in battle, and a shadow seems to envelope him as he fights. The war has changed Skywalker, most likely for the worse.

Supreme Chancellor Palpatine -

Though the attempt on his life has left him scarred, his loyalty to the Republic is unwavering. Public support only rose after he survived his brush with death, and he continues to be a very popular leader. He holds all the strings, and has no intention of letting them go, as long as he draws breath.

Admiral Thrawn - After his encounter with Skywalker on Batuu, Thrawn decided to accompany him back to coruscant, even if only to assess the state of the Republic for potential alliance with the Chiss ascendancy. Although he found it in an unacceptable state of corruption and greed, he saw potential. Its military showed promise, the clone army was enticing to say the least. He was entered into the Republic naval academy, and fast tracked to admiralty in just three years. Given his own fleet and flagship, The Chimaera, Thrawn is determined to reforge the Republic Navy, becoming its leader. Some say he even has machinations on the seat of Supreme Chancellor. Though these are just rumours, Palpatine has still taken precautions.

Captain [Blank] - You'd think I'd have come up with a decent name by now, huh. Anywho, this is the same guy from Year four, just with a slightly new look and rank. Not an admiral anymore, just a captain. Still blind though, and with a beard this time.

Commander Cody - Still fiercely loyal to the Republic, Cody remains in charge of the 212th attack battalion, leading them into battle, or commanding them from afar. He's getting older though, and is soon to be commanded, returned to Kamino to train the next generation of clones. Quick not about the armour, Mecabricks doesn't have stormtrooper helmets (weird right), so any PhIII's in the future will most likely be helmetless, unless absolutely necessary.

Commander Appo - After Rex's desertion, Appo took command of the 501st, continuing to fight alongside General Skywalker.

So, that's year five done and dusted. I'll be doing this for all the factions, and maybe one more depending on if I can make it work. As always, please lemme know what you think, and if you'd like to see more. Oh, and also if you can think of any other Jedi that would have remained loyal to the Republic, as I honestly couldn't think of any :D

I think it's fitting to post the Koenigsegg Regera today, as it's nearing the end of the year and it's certainly the best car I've been able to take a picture of this year, especially as we didn't expect the Regera to be driven at all !

I think it would be fair to say that in the bird world, turkey vultures have big babies. This youngster has not left the nest or learned to fly yet. The entrance hole to its nest cavity is right in front of its head but hidden from our view by the trunk of that giant old bur oak tree. This fledgling turkey vulture is getting its first look at the outside world. I suppose it has a face that only its mother could love😍.

I think this is a ring-necked duck (M) but I am not sure. I need "Birdfessionals" to verify it, but for now I call it a ring-necked duck.

think twice.don't think twice.

Well, I think that I am finished with my visit to Howell, Michigan. I guess I'll jump on the next train out of town!

I like the stories of the hoboes who road the rails in the dark days of The Great Depression. Traveling gave them hope. Maybe in the next town I'll find a job, a home, a sweetheart.........

A song from a movie about the romance of the rails is "Wish Me a Rainbow" from the movie, "This Property is Condemned." www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwXI14h3NqI

What are you thinking, dear butterfly? Are you thinking about exploring the floral world you have never been to? Are you thinking about hosting a worldwide butterfly exposition? Or are you thinking about playing checkers with me? Whatever you are pondering, remember not to overthink.

Thanks for reading, dear Flickr friends. The pose of this butterfly reminds me of Auguste Rodin’s sculpture The Thinker. (Please view the previous image on my photostream.)

Taken for the Canon photo5 Competition. This is using the ribbon as the item in my shot. I had this idea basically from the beginning, but today's group for Flickr Group Roulette is Flying Feet, so here I am levitating! I think it finished the shot off nicely.

It only took 10 shots to coordinate my jumping and Eliza to look half decent! I don't like the way my pyjamas look uneven but I guess we could just say it's that frazzled mother look! :P

I'm not set on the title yet, any help?

I'm thinking along the lines of "mum on a rope" "she says jump. i say how high?" etc...

Eplored #86.

I think the thing I like most about going out with my camera to hunt for wildlife, is that you never see what you expect you'll see.

Heading down to Cape May yesterday morning, I anticipated getting some decent pictures of snowy egrets and Great White herons.....maybe a few ducks or glossy ibises.

I didn't see any one of those birds.

As a matter of fact, most of the bird action was back in the wooded area around the lighthouse, not the ponds.

I was simply thrilled to spot and photograph my 1st Blue Bunting!

What a gorgeous little bird!

LOL.....it's funny when I see a bird I haven't seen before.

Even if it's fairly common, and I know that many other people have seen it plenty of times, I always react like I've just made the most amazing discovery! 8-))

Lyon - Tête d'or

I think I need to get back here and visit my buddy Lionel Bigthumb for some private tours and some time off work! This place is so cool, especially at night with no tourists clogging up the canyon. I been working on this shot for a little bit, I think I can add it up there with my favorites from here.

I think she’s done. I’m going to live with it for a few days and see if there are any minor adjustments I want to make. Final photos should be coming in a few days. I am NOT looking forward to photo day.

I think this will be the final shot from a string of photos captured in late November. I was on the road that day and stumbled upon this abandoned homestead. Looking back, I should have been more careful while wandering around, as it was hunting season in the Midwest. Luckily, no stray rounds that day.
