Another from the archives. Been working mostly on sculpture these days, and rarely get a decent image of that work, but will have some soon I think.

...and dead, I think. No greenery is growing from the top of this tree, so I think it is no longer among the living. Of course, that doesn't mean it didn't live a long life. The trees in the grove at the end of Bristlecone Trail range in age between 1,000 - 5,000 years.

This is one of the hikes that I wanted to do more than any other hike. I think bristlecone pines are my favorite trees. I find it mind-boggling that they can live in extremely harsh environments for thousands of years.

The Great Basin Bristlecones are an extremely rare species found only in California, Nevada, and Utah. They live just above tree line and grow verrry slowly, sometimes not even growing a tree ring in a year. Their dense wood is insect, fungi, and rot-resistant.

This tree pictured here is a part of a grove that grows on the northeast side of Wheeler Peak. This grove is actually growing on a glacial moraine of quartzite boulders. Quartzite is a metamorphic rock that originated from sandstone that was altered by heat and pressure.

I think of you

I haven't slept

I think I do

But, I don't forget

My body moves

Goes where I will

But though I try my heart stays still

It never moves

Just won't be led

And so my mouth waters, to be fed

And you're always in my head

You're always in my head...

This, I guess, is to tell you you're chosen out from the rest...*

Think of me, think of me fondly

When we've said goodbye

Remember me, once in a while

Please promise me you'll try

When you find that once again you long

To take your heart back and be free

If you ever find a moment

Spare a thought for me

We never said our love was evergreen

Or as unchanging as the sea

But if you can still remember

Stop and think of me

Think of all the things

We've shared and seen

Don't think about the way

Things might have been

Think of me, think of me waking

Silent and resigned

Imagine me trying too hard

To put you from my mind

Recall those days

Look back on all those times

Think of the things we'll never do

There will never be a day

When I won't think of you

Can it be, can it be Christine?

Bravo!

Long ago, it seems so long ago

How young and innocent we were

She may not remember me

But I remember her

Flowers fade, the fruits of summer fade

They have their season so do we

But please promise me that sometimes

You will think of me

Think this is one of the places which remained there for a long time. Imagine how the scene has looked 30 years ago? A brand new wooden resting place for tired hikers and a small beech sapling on the left, growing out of the grass.

Think will call this 5.2 as that was the strength of the quake we had whilst editing it.

I think this is this species, but as it is rarely photographed I am not certain. Let me know if you can confirm this ID?

I actually like this cover. I am not really into her new CD but I thought this pic went awesome with the song title. What do you think?

I think this is a 3rd winter Great Blacked gull having consulted my book. It dropped in this morning for a drink on a local freshwater pool. Unusual to see these inland on fresh water. Possibly an offspring of the pair who breed @ snettisham

I think it's important to find the small things in everyday life that make you happy... :-)

This, I think, is one of the most amazing places in New Zealand. I was really looking forward to visiting this place, but admist one of the biggest snowfalls in New Zealand, snugged up in the Catlins and watching the wind and rain pour in, I never thought i'd get a good shot of this place. The waterfalls were completely overwhelmed and muddy, it was freezing cold and windy... but for some reason the sun shone, the clouds parted and I got this shot of the lighthouse. What is even more amazing is that a rainbow came out towards the left which I captured with the LInhof and so I really hope it came out ok with the wind howling against the tripod. Afterwards, we went up to the lighthouse and over a wooden ledge and the sound the wind made was like a jet engine.

After this shot we went into a small little hotel and ate an wesome meal of seafood and pints of Speights.

Oh mannn.

So more info regarding this shot - I think this is the perfect shot with regards to balance, focal points, leading lines and my favourite subject, the ocean. The cross light has a nice feel to it, although it could be better given the rocks in the water are darker, but at the same time I really like being able to see the shadow at the edge of the cliff to the right in the water. I did saturate this photo a little, as I'm sick of seeing professional photos that are clearly unnatural and could not exist without some saturation added to convey "their perception of the photo with their own eyes" or something... so i'll see what other people think.

The Lone Pigeon in his element

I think this is a great field to explore. Spread throughout the frame, you can see many galaxies. Almost all of those small brown funky-shaped smudges are galaxies. There are hundreds, how cool is that? The galaxy in the centre is NGC 7431. A barred spiral galaxy some 65 million years away near the Virgo supercluster. The colours come through fairly well showing the lovely blues where young stars are present in the arms. This galaxy is similar in size, but just a little smaller than our own galaxy, The Milky Way.

This galaxy shares a characteristic of many in the Virgo cluster. The tugging of gravitational forces with nearby galaxies has resulted in the distorted arms seen here. These forces can result in magnificently shaped galaxies, to some peculiarly shaped objects.

I Don't Think About You - Kelly Clarkson

When you're lost in the moment

You can't see where you going

I didn’t know who I could trust

So I put all my faith in us

Oh, you tore me to pieces

Turned my strength into weakness

I didn't want it all to fall apart

So I decided just to play the part

But honestly, I do it all again

Putting up with all the bullshit, It made me strong enough to do this

It used to bother me

Thought I could never leave?

After all that I've been through, nothin’ left to prove

No, no, no, I don't think about you

Weighin' down on me

I lost my sanity

And now that we are through

Nothin' left to lose

No, no, no, I don’t think about you

I feel freedom where I stand now

And I feel proud from who I am now

Yeah, I learned a lot along the way

I love the woman that I became

I was patient, but not anymore

It's back in my hands

And you swore I'll never do it

But it's your turn to face the music

It used to bother me

Thought I could never leave?

After all that I've been through, nothin’ left to prove

No, no, no, I don't think about you

Weighin' down on me

I lost my sanity

And now that we are through

Nothin' left to lose

No, no, no, I don’t think about you

It was hard to hold on

Days and nights I thought I'd never make at all

Couldn't make it at all

Now I stand tall

Feeling like myself again, no worries at all

Breathe

No one can stop me from livin’ this moment for me

I found my heartbeat

After all that I've been through

No, I don't think about you....

Luke and Leia are trapped on the Death Star bridge.

I think it's awesome that we got another Leia minifigure in an affordable set :-) (75229) I had some extra Death Star background parts (from another photo), so I used them for the background :-)

This is a digital shot of an old 35mm picture. That's where the scratches on scuffs came from. I think the 35mm was taken in 1982.

When I think of you I want to cause you bodily harm, but I can't because you once brought me happiness.

Debuting a look I made up earlier that has the thiccness people seem to love these days.

I think this is the last one in the Faerie Queen sequence - but you never know!

I miss living in Ireland. Just moved back to New York last week.

I have organised all of the pieces that I have uploaded so far into the album 21 Shalott which you can take a look at and see the complete series! :)

My little contribution to Marchikoma 2015. Better late than never!
