Yes, I was driving while taking this. A lot of things irritate me, and perhaps in the "Top 10" list is getting gas. I hate to do it. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate to do it.
Perhaps because my grandfather was a mechanic - and my father loves to tinker with cars -and I hated the smell of gasoline on their clothes when growing up? I don't know. This was last night, and $10 says that unless I go somewhere this weekend, I'll be filling up Monday morning.
My poor car runs constantly on fumes.
I wish it would just magically refuel itself.

disclaimer: i'm not sure what your idea of materialistic is... i allowed myself things that cost some money -- books for example. i didn't allow myself anything that cost a fortune -- for example, seeing a broadway show.
1 – sleeping
2 – hot showers
3 – thai food
4 – 80s movies
5 – my dog
6 – books
7 – the beach
8 – freedom (of speech, of choice, of religion, etc, etc, etc)
9 – songs so good they make you cry (to date, for me, this has only ever been theatre
music)
10 – autumn
11 – walking through nyc late at night – when it’s not crowded with tourists and business
people
12 – the internet
13 – my mom and sister (occasionally my father)
14 – disney world (is that materialistic?)
15 – the nyc subway system (except when i have to wait a really long time, or when the
train is super crowded, or in the summer when it’s 863 degrees below ground)
16 – twilight (obligatory at this point in time)

there was a small debris fire on the roof of the building near us. it was already mostly put out by the los angeles fire department the time i noticed.
I do very much like my new scarf, it not only is cozy but looks so good! (so much so that I bought the very same scarf and matching mitts for a long-time friend in Sweden).

1. I'm 3rd of 4 daughters.
2. my family of origin does not do well at keeping in touch... stuck in some bad communication patterns I guess.
3. I totally love to indulge in a pedicure (been too long since my last one too!)
4. I feel I am agnostic, not atheist, not religious... but agnostic.
5. I believe most people are good (though sometimes the good in them is a major challenge to find!)
6. I have been a blogger in the past, from 2001 to 2007. I closed down my blog in the fall of 2007 after getting the last 5 years printed into a set of two books.
7. I have been on medication before for depression, and it truly did help while I was in that time of need.
8. I have found that in the last year while doing the 365 days flickr photo project I have become much more comfortable with photos of myself, and at the same time created an interesting collection I shall yet get printed in a book for me and my hubby to have.
9. I watch little television, but Big Brother and some other reality shows are what I watch. I have thoght I'd like to participate in Big Brother, but that will never happen as I live in the wrong country.
10. I have been an introvert for much of my life, but think I'm evolving.
11. Red Wine is the alcohol I most often drink these days
12. I try to be a good person, always...
13. I SO look forward to surgery sometime in the next many months... my uterus is getting to be quite the 'pain' literally and figuratively!

Last week I decided to start a self portrait project but rather than take photos of my self, I’ll document who I am through the things I love or own. Plus, I figure it’ll be a great way to pick up my camera when I’m not officially shooting.
Today is all about Taupe/beige/ greige and the like. I’ve always loved color. The brighter the better! Then all of a sudden neutrals sneaked up on me. One reason for my new love affair is the fact that neutrals showcase color and make the slightest hint of color a focal point. And of course the over arching theme in everything I own is that its cute, quirky, floral and fun.

1. While modeling my belt, I realized this is the perfect shot for five things this week... it sums up my life. It feels vibrant in this body.
2. The nausea has passed(!!!!!) and I am trying to get a handle on riding these waves of energy: I tend to burn myself out instead of keeping a steady pace...
3. I've never felt more at peace with where I am. My arms jiggle, my strength training fell off three months ago and yet I look in the mirror and see only power.
4. Tonglen. Tonglen. My life demands it every day. Things that need healed demand it.
5. My mama comes to visit this coming week, arriving on my birthday. She'll go to prenatal yoga with me: the woman who birthed me, standing with me in warrior III while I carry her grandchild. I cannot even bear the excitement!!!

My wife and I shopped at this store occasionally for home furnishings and kitchen stuff. This was taken after the store had closed but before the signage was removed.
