i’m sorry that i’ve been complaining about not “having it” lately. it really hasn’t anything to do with my sorry-butt photography skills. more then that, i guess it’s been a reflection on my ability to appreciate the “simple things.”
over the past year, i’ve fallen in love with photography because i suddenly realized that i could capture those moments (the simple things) that made life precious. you know…the pics that get you those “why did you take a pic of that?” look.
anyways, been so busy lately, that i’ve been finding it hard to recognize, much less appreciate, the simple things… i need a slap…

Lovely, lovely cd's.. Also, if you've not checked out Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra (or his solo stuff) head over here on iTunes and check out some stuff. If you like some really groovey/funky music you'll enjoy all of these fine records.
Not sure which is most impressive:
1. That, all things considered, it's a decent copy of the Wii, it's accessories, and it's packaging; even the games look comparable to Wii Sports, based on the screenshots, though I assume the gameplay isn't anywhere as good.
2. That they can get away with selling this without an injunction for trademark &/or patent violations.
3. That people would buy it. I mean, okay, it's 1/10 the cost, but also 1/10 as good, surely?
The kinds of things you find when emptying cupboards. On the right is "coffee replacement" ("does not contain coffee"), I don't know from when! Definitely going back in the cupboard, it's antique.
I've been tagged four times, so I shall see if I can come up with 16 things you may or may not know about me...
1) I've never met another person with my first name.
2) I eloped. (as a side note, our parents have never met)
3) I got married when I did (December 28th) to save money on our taxes.
4) I do a mean Karen Carpenter impersonation, but you may have to get me drunk to hear it.
5) I sing and write music with my husband, and have won several songwriting awards (and yet still toil in obscurity).
6) I nearly drowned on my only white river rafting trip when the boat capsized. I can't swim, but it wouldn't have helped if I could (I was stuck in a hydraulic, and was lucky enough that it finally spun me out instead of under/to the bottom one more time.)
7) I am obsessed with all things Bloomsbury.
8) I've been a runner for fourteen and a half years.
9) I've been a vegetarian for almost three and a half years. Before that we low-carbed for six years.
10) If I can't fall asleep, I listen to old recordings of Hall-of-Famer baseball announcer Ernie Harwell calling a couple of Detroit Tigers baseball games from the 2000 season on my iPod.
11) I used to write over 300 hand written letters a year.
12) My favorite movies are Frida, Carrington, and The Hunger.
13) I'm pretty sure I had salmonella poisoning two weeks ago, courtesy of a Peanut Butter Crunch Clif bar.
14) My favorite book is A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry.
15) I do not cry. I cry so infrequently that I can usually keep track of the last time I actually did cry. Right now we're at four years and counting, and my mom died in those four years, so you can tell that I just really ... don't.
16) I've seen Heart in concert 15 times.

A painful process it was in moving my workflow over to the Mac!
But so far so good. Picked at random just to shake things out. So far I like it.

Too many things to play with - glove compartments and roofs that come off and belts and things. It's what a car-crazy Cub really wants!!
so i've seen this 13 things all over flickr. i decided to give it a try. here it goes =]
1. i don't drink, smoke, or do any drugs. never have, never will. i don't do it to make a statement. to be honest, i just find it all disgusting.
2. i'm born and raised in new jersey, but really don't like it here. i can't stand the whole "guido" thing, it creeps me out. i'm somewhat of a beach bum and a southern belle at heart.
3. i can be really cynical and sarcastic, or a total sweetheart...it totally depends on who i'm with. it's really no judge of my mood either. there are a few people who get my sense of humor and i love them for it.
4. i'm obsessed with flannel shirts. i actually dress like somewhat of a hipster boy 90% of the time, but i'm a total girly girl. boy's clothes are just more comfy =].
5. i am really intimidated by the idea of art in general. i'll rarely show any of my work besides my photography to people.
6. i love to travel. it's all i really want to do with my life. right now, i'm an anthropology major because i thought i'd be able to travel with that but i'm not so sure now...i really just want to be on the travel channel.
7. i love the outdoors. i love roughing it. hiking, biking, canoeing...all of it makes me so happy. i just love being out in nature. i'd take the woods over a city anyday.
8. i can be pretty shy, especially in big groups. however, with my close friends, i'm a total diva.
9. i love to read. i'm absolutely obsessed with into the wild by jon krakauer and on the road by jack kerouac. those are the only books i read over and over again.
10. i totally belong in another era. probably the 50s or early 60s. i love the style, the music, the attitude, everything.
11. i'm a country music geek. i usually keep it to myself but it's definitely a favorite of mine, especially while i'm driving. however, i really listen to a bunch of different stuff. my ipod's shuffle is an explosion of tastes.
12. i can't stand complex poetry, novels, films, songs...anything i have to analyze for hours. i like simple fun stuff. i'm a smart girl, but i'd rather not waste my time interpreting crap.
13. i live for sunny days. if i could (and eventually i will) i would just lie on the beach everyday. it is for this reason i will forever envy matthew mcconaughey. damn, that boy has got it all figured out...
that was fun, heh. i'll probably do another one in the future...i like these =]
