YARN – POLE HUGGING
Yarn bombing is an unofficial type of public art where woolen works are wrapped around trees, poles and other objects in public places. In this case, the Eighth Street and Sixth Avenue shady corner of Moody Park has many trees that are wrapped in yarn.

This summer driving by Moody Park in New Westminster I came across Yarn around trees. I had no clue at the time of what this was all about? Wool hugging trees? How warm and cozy this was to see. I thought how imaginative this work of art is. I then researched about yarn around trees and it’s called “Yarn Bombing”.
I thought this would be great for a theme so this week I decided to go back and take a second look and take one best picture for my theme. I was excited to see this again however when I drove to the park the trees were bare and not without leaves but without “YARN”. I wondered what happened. I went inside the community center and asked, “Where is all the yarn around the trees outside? They said well it started to look droopy and haggard with all the rain so we took them inside and put them away. I was dismayed as I explained about my project themes with my girlfriend. I asked is there anything wrapped up inside? She said kindly, well if you go outside to the front of the building you will see some poles to our entrance. They are covered under so the rain should not destroy those ones. I quickly went to the front and there they were, three poles being wrapped up with yarn. Perhaps not the trees I wanted but these poles are just as pretty and loved by the women who knitted, crocheted and stitched granny squares together. This certainly added inviting colors to this great community center.
Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.

My daughter decorated this birthday cake for David. We had a Labor Day gathering at my sister-in-law's today, and celebrated David's Birthday a few days late. I thought the cake turned out great.
I was travelling light this weekend and I didn't have a tripod so this was the longest handheld shot I could manage of the flowing water.
