So i've been wanting to make some textures for a while.... i just did this one in like 10 minutes. it was a picture of some cork board on my desk then i jazzed it up a little. Feel free to down load it. Please just tag me in the photo so i can see what you've done with it!

Multiple levels (parallel planes; rock surface curves down to right) of slickensided fault surfaces in an outcrop of Marron Fm. andesitic volcanic rock (in south-central British Columbia), with one of my fingers for scale. Above my finger, the lighter coloured material is a mineral vein (fluid flowed along a fault plane and mineral precipitated from solution) with a patchy distribution now because it is partly eroded away.

The slickenlines present have two different groove lineation directions, diagonal down to the left and down to the right in both the purplish-brown host rock and the light brown vein material. They record two different steep (sub-vertical) directions of fault motion at this site back in the Eocene (ca. 50 million years ago), a time of post-orogenic normal faulting in this part of western Canada.

Crystal has one of the most inspirational photo streams on flickr. One of the greatest assests of this site is it's ability to inspire others. She knows how to get a photo to feel a certain way. Her use of textures and tones inspired me to look back to photos from my trip to Tennessee in September and see if I could create something like she does. Not sure if it works or not but... hey, practice makes perfect right?

So anyway, here's a thank you to Crystal who not only creates great photos, but inspirational works of art. I think I'm going to have to buy a fancy parasol and have fun with it too.

Weekend means going through the archives. And with the exception of that really fun maternity shoot yesterday, I think today I'll be giving my trigger finger the day off.

Returning to my love of capturing still life images.

We took a road trip on Friday (the day before coming back home from camping) and we stoped for me to take some photos. This is an old mill (I Believe) and I liked the colors and textures of the place. so I did some touch ups with it and used a texture from a fellow Flickr member to give it a more rustic look. This my first time to use a texture from flickr and on one of my images. Hope it came out OK.

A mixture of colors does good the spirits.

I came across this section of old rusted pipe on a walk on the Dick & Willie Trail yesterday. Time and exposure to the elements have given it beautiful colors and textures.....
