Where my office is based, we have a small little open court yard that has wooden benches. These benches have spent some time outside and because of this it has really aged the wood, which I thought would be brilliant for a texture background.

I originally placed some red and white rose petals on the top right hand corner to form like an L shape and then a ribbon in the bottom left doing the same and then the text and heart would have been in the middle. However with the weather being a bit messed up, every time I decided to take a shot everything kept blowing away. I did try several times but I just could not get it to keep it still without gluing it down and to be honest if I had some glue I probably would have done it…lol

So I decided to strip it back and keep the Love in a some what of a raw form…

I wanted the text to be a part of the wood and have that engraved/stamp look. In LR, I increased the clarity all the way up and it just brought all the detail in the wood out. increased the temp a little to give it a little bit of a warm feel. I took it into PS and created the text. With the text I changed the bevel and emboss, inner shadow and glow until I was happy with it. Bought it back it back in LR and just added a little bit of dodge burn around the heart and used paint overlay to finish it off.

I don’t think this is finished, I feel like there is something still missing…???

on the drive to Alipura, India

In March, I traveled 20 days through Northern India and it was absolutely unlike anywhere or anything I've ever experienced. It's hard to put the intensity of it into words; the extreme congestion of people, the endless blaring horns, the reckless drivers, the staggering contrast between wealth and absolute poverty and misery. It was all so very real and shocking.

India to me was very much about the people. It was about the kindness of the people and their curiosity of the camera, the intense and revealing looks in their eyes in the portraits, the excitement of the masses of children from having their picture taken. I was overwhelmed by the people of India. I was amazed at their kindness, curiosity and an almost sort of innocence.

India was an extreme overload of the senses.

Ummm...so I was taking these shots for my sister since she loves hydrangeas...then I went and ordered them for my house, LOL...I did a series of 3 (the largest being a 24x48 canvas!)!! I'm so excited ;)

On a sad note...my nifty fifty has been on the fritz...it is now completely broken...I'm so sad...maybe DH will let me spring for the 1.4!
