"Esta terrible crueldad, ¿de dónde sale? ¿Cómo ha arraigado en el mundo? ¿De qué semilla, de qué raÃz ha brotado? Y ¿de quién es obra? ¿Quién nos mata? Nos arrebata la vida y la luz, se burla de nosotros mostrando lo que podrÃamos haber conocido. ¿Acaso nuestra destrucción beneficia a la Tierra? ¿Ayuda a que crezca la hierba o luzca el Sol? ¿También en ti hay esta oscuridad? ¿Has vivido esta negra noche?"
* * *
This great evil. Where does it come from? How'd it steal into the world? What seed, what root did it grow from? Who's doin' this? Who's killin' us? Robbing us of life and light. Mockin' us with the sight of what we might've known. Does our ruin benefit the earth? Does it help the grass to grow, the sun to shine? Is this darkness in you, too? Have you passed through this night?

Dirección y guión de Terrence Malick, a partir de la novela de James Jones

White Gardenia Night
by Rebecca Wiles
Gardenias saturate the night,
clothed in their array of lovely white.
Their fragrance permeates the nose,
and far outshines the perfect rose.
White Gardenias take me there,
while I sit upon my chair.
And listen to the crickets play,
in their orchestrative way.
I feel blessed to be,
alone in my revery,
on a White Gardenia night!

I guess somewhere along the way
He must have let us all out to play
Turned his back and all god's children
Crept out the back door
And it's hard to love, there's so much to hate
Hanging on to hope
When there is no hope to speak of
And the wounded skies above say it's much too late
Well maybe we should all be praying for time

One of my favourite covers, so I shall post the Carrie Underwood's rendition. Guess what, I shall liberate myself and stop putting my signatures across my works! I'm done- until I get a spiffy cursive signature looking stamp. =) I spent the whole of last night catching up to Kathy Griffin's My Life On The D-List. I love that comedienne.

At Nose Hill Park in northwest Calgary, Alberta, western Canada. Much of this large park consists of grassy fields and slopes, with relatively few trees, preserving prairie grassland habitat.
This is not a monochrome image: note the few small green leafy plants present, surrounded by the abundant brown grass.

"Hummingbird Texture" by Patti Deters. This Ruby-throated Hummingbird (archilochus colubris) image was photographed in my own backyard in Minnesota. It kept trying to "eat" from from the frost-nipped leaf. I'm not sure what the attraction was - perhaps there was a small pool of water on the leaf that it was drinking. Several textures have been applied for artistic effect. If you like this image, please enjoy more at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/hummingbird-texture-patt....
As I crossed the wooden bridge over the Pigeon River, I noticed the patterns on this post and couldn't resist taking a photo. Patterns and textures are interesting, especially those found in wood. I also liked the way that the light was striking the post at the time.

Nets drying on the island of Sipan, Croatia. They come in a lovely variety of soft subtle colours as if natural dyes are used. I would be interested to know if anyone can confirm that.
