Despite the chaos caused by a signalling fault closing all the lines on the WCML in the Wembley area, further north things carried on as normal, such as 90011 'East Anglian Daily Times Suffolk and Proud' went for its test run from Crewe I.E.M.D to Stafford and back, seen here rolling into Crewe station on the return leg, Wednesday 27th September 2018
Much more of a real-world test for the Class 93s as Rail Operation Group’s Class 93, 93006 leads Freightliner Class 66, 66512 through Hartford on 4S48 1915 Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal to Mossend PD Stirling.
Despite a total train weight of 1,619 tonnes and a total train length of 774 metres, 4S48 gained 8 minutes climbing Shap and 11 minutes climbing Beattock (against booked timings) suggesting the 93 performed well in the slippery November conditions.

Locomotive Services Limited's Class 20s, 20132 and 20118 "Saltburn-by-the-Sea" top-n-tail the exquisitely restored "Brighton Belle" on its first shakedown test run since its restoration by the 5BEL Trust in conjunction with LSL.
Whilst the 5BEL Trust owns two further former Brighton Belle pullman cars and has plans to restore one of these to complete a prototypical 5-car set, for now the focus has been getting a 4-car set back to full mainline working order and capable of self-propelled working on its old stomping ground of the Southern Region.
The current 4-car set comprises Car 91 "Mabel" (99291), Car 85 "Gravetye Manor" (99285), Car 82 "Doris" (99282) and Car 88 "Beryl" (99288).
The very first post-restoration run was seen passing Calveley Hall Lane running as 5D41 0925 Crewe H.S. to Chester. The historic working had been delayed around an hour due to 20118 playing up on depot prior to departure, and then awaiting a path on the Chester line.
The first test was run at 35mph, with the plan to step up to 45mph, 65mph and eventually 75mph on subsequent runs later that day and the following day.

As part of a programme to increase the route profile for the Belmond Grand Hibernian tours, 216 lead the 10-coach rake south of Connolly for the first time as the 0945 Inchicore - Gorey test run. Part of the issue is the length of train (usually limited to a 5 ICR).
The train is seen passing under the bridge on the Murrough Road

59002 completes it's first test run from Merehead to Woodborough on 9th February 1986.
A pair of 56s had just been removed to release 59002 before the class 56s took the train on to Acton.
This was at milepost 19.5m, which I presume is just to the west of Woodborough loop?

The reason why I was onboard the Cross City line today - to be evacuated! A call went out to some students in DIT, especially in the Transport courses, for volunteers to be involved. A chance for an early run - of course!
For the first time in nearly 52 years since it was withdrawn from the Victorian Railways and nearly 100 years since built, A2 986 returns to the mainline!
Nearly 5 months ago, A2 986 operated for the first time under its own power around Newport Workshops and today onto the mainline!
Here the pairing of A2 986 and T395 roll back towards Newport as 0583.
A2 986 began mainline testing operating a series of trips between Newport and Sunshine. This allowed for testing at low speed in a controlled environment. Some adjustments have been found to fix at a later date though the overall testing was a success.
A T class diesel (no. 395) was used to provide a modest load for A2 986, to provide a train to base radio for communication and to help with driver training of V/Line crews on the goods only railway line to Sunshine.

Having seen GB Railfreight's Class 92, 92 020 several times over the past couple of months since its release from Brush, this was the first time I'd seen it at a decent speed.
On her first trip north of Crewe for almost 18 years and running in the region of 75 mph, 92020 brightens up a very miserable Hartford as it leads sister locomotive 92010 on 0Z96.

Another first for me today, Great Anglia Class 720 units, doing their regular milage accumulation runs, this one on Monday 26th October 2020 passing south of Stableford, Staffordshire on the West Coast Main Line.
I haven’t been able to make out of find out the unit numbers, nor can I find a schedule, if anyone has any idea, the info would be gratefully received.
Edit - noted from wnxx.com that the units were 720550 (nearest camera) and 720546
At the end of its first full week of proper mainline testing, GB Railfreight's recently reinstated Class 92, 92 020, is brought back into Crewe station by sister locomotive 92 010.
92010 had earlier led a run from Crewe ETD to Stafford as 0Z95, with 92020 then returning (and performing well) as 0Z96. The engines went via the Basford Hall and Gresty Bridge triangle on the return to turn the locos so 020 was on the south end ready to lead the "Skoda swap" move on Monday as its next test outing.
At the Batcave, Robin is training with his bo-staff. Ken comes down the stairs wearing his new suit. Robin stops for a moment to look at him.
Rbn: "Holy cra-"
AP: "Language, master Tim!"
Rbn: "Sorry, Alfred. That's suit is just amazing!"
Ken: "Thanks! I'm really liking how it turned out. Still not sure about the name though. Mandalorian."
Rbn: "I like it!"
AP: "As do I."
Ken: "You guys are awesome."
AP and Rbn: "We know."
Robin and Ken both look at Alfred.
AP: "What? You know it's true."
Ken: "True, true. Now, wanna see what it can do?"
Rbn: "Show me what that beatiful piece of tech can do!"
Ken aims at a dummy and he shoots a grappling hook from his gauntlet. He presses a bhtton and an electric shock goes through the line and shocks the dummy.
Ken: "This is my old gauntlet. The one I had while I was Batboy. I modified it, so it could do more. I also made another one, with different features."
He then lifts his left arm and presses another button, as flames erupt from the gauntlet and burn the dummy.
Rbn: "Holy-!"
AP: "Tim!"
Rbn: "Sorry. But that's awesome!"
Ken: "I'm not done yet."
He switches back to his right gauntlet and he fires rubber bullets at the dummy.
Rbn: "Wrist guns?"
Ken: "I modified some old ones of Deadshot. Don't worry, I won't use real bullets."
AP: "I hope so. Are you done showing off? I have a surprise for you."
Ken: "What is it?"
AP: "Lucius finished your jetpack."
Alfred walks away and comes back with a jetpack.
Ken: "Holy-!"
AP: *Ahehm!*
Ken: "-mother of cookiedough! That's my jetpack?!"
AP: "Yes. Mister Fox told me it features three rockets, which you can fire by pressing the two green buttons on your left gauntlet. Bow down, press the buttons, and the rockets will fly at their target. You can activite the jetpack and fly by pressing the red button on your left gauntlet again."
Rbn: "That's awesome!"
Ken: "I need to take it out for a testrun."
AP: "Are you sure about that? You've never used it before."
Ken: "I've watched all of the Star Wars movies, I watched the Clone Wars TV show, the 2003 and 2008 version, and I've watched the Rebels TV show. I'm pretty sure I know how to fly a jetpack."
Rbn: "You're really going on that? Really?"
Ken: "Adam Strange stopped by a few days ago. He has taught me as well."
Rbn: "That's so much better."
Ken: "Relieved?"
Rbn: "Just a little bit."
AP: "There's a robbery in progress near the Gotham Clocktower.
Rbn: "Random thugs?"
AP: "A guy wearing some kind of yellow smiley mask."
Rbn: *Sigh* "We'll take him down."
Ken: "Let me grab my helmet."
Rbn: "You have a helmet too?! Son of a-!"
AP: "Language!"

Today, 4th of October, the new Dutch Dubbeldecker material, called DDZ, was taken for testrides for sound measurements. DDZ EMU 7503 made a couple of rides from Amersfoort to Zwolle viceversa.
NSR DDZ 7503 passes Putten on a testrun from Zwolle to Amersfoort.
DDZ is the new Dubble Decker coach strategy of NSR - only 4 and 6 car trains with a mDDM motorcar which resembles a DDM driving car with electric motors in the lower part and a single passenger deck on top - no more push-pull combinations with an Eloc type 1700.
Inside a new Zone concept will be implemented (the Z in DDZ) - working/silence areas are one part of the concept.
NSR DDZ 7503 passes Putten as train 89304 from Zwolle to Amersfoort.

A testrun of the brandnew 15G Urbos tram in Diemen before diving under the Ring A10.
This tram with the R-Net livery is intended for line 25, which will connect Amsterdam Zuid with Amstelveen in December 2020.
In urban morning backlight this tram is driving down to the Watergraafsmeer. This photo is taken less than 3 weeks before start of operation of line 25.
Tram series 15G Amsterdam
The tram series 15G is a series of tram equipment in delivery for the Amsterdam tram. On 12 September 2016, transport company GVB announced that, after a tendering procedure that started in 2015, the Spanish railway manufacturer CAF has been selected as the supplier of the new trams.
The trams are of the Urbos 100 type. On 11 November 2016, the GVB signed a contract with CAF for the delivery of 63 15G trams. Delivery started from the second half of 2019.
GVB initially purchases 63 trams and has taken an option for an additional 60 cars. Nine extra trams were ordered and added to the first badge. The first, still numberless, car was delivered by special trailer to the Hoofdwerkplaats (workshop) in Diemen on 26 April 2019. The first test drive in the city of tram No. 3001 took place on the night of May 29, 2019. From September 19, 2019, test drives were also made during the day across the entire tram network.
Of the series of 72 trams, 25 are supplied in R-net version (gray-black with red doors) and 47 are supplied in GVB version (white-blue). The series is expected to be fully delivered in 2022.
