Rolan Tate practices an exercise called "Tense and Release" with fellow members of the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps in a parking lot near TCF Bank Stadium on the afternoon of July 16. Genesis is a competitive drum corps that was founded in 2009 and is based out of Austin, Texas. Later that afternoon, 150 members of Genesis performed in TCF Stadium as part of a Drum Corps International event that featured over 2,000 performers from throughout the United States.
