From The Renaissance Nude
(March to June 2019)
Trace the development of the nude through some of the great masters of the Renaissance. Bringing together works by artists such as Titian, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Dürer and Cranach, we shed light on a visual tradition at its most vital moment.
The 15th and 16th centuries were a pivotal time for the nude in Western art. A renewed interested in ancient Greek and Roman art brought the human body to the forefront of artistic innovation. Artists on both sides of the Alps – Perugino, Pollaiuolo and Gossaert among others – were copying from classical models, experimenting with naturalistic approaches, as well as exploring new, non-religious subject matter.
At the same time, the nude was transforming Christian art, encouraging modern and dynamic representations of age-old themes, from the story of Adam and Eve to the crucifixion.
This spectacular exhibition explores these important changes in a selection of exquisite works. From full-scale paintings to jewel-like illustrations, bronze statuettes to anatomical studies, they contrast idealised beauty with the ageing body, and public images with more intimate, private works.

Advertising on the back of a Wright Eclipse Urban bodied Volvo B7RLE with Transdev Keighley & District. Petrol has dropped below £1 a litre since this branding was applied, it stil displays it now but with fares from just 80p - the second time it has had to be changed in the 12 months since new!
This was my second shoot with Kieshia - she is a delightful young lass that I met on Model Mayhem. She has a great smile and confidence and is a lot of fun to shoot with. Unfortunately I just found out she moved to Fairbanks - bummer!
We did this shoot in South Anchorage, Alaska in April 2011.
Strobist info - for most of the shots I used a two flash set-up; a Canon 580 EX II set on 1/2 power through an umbrella set to my right and a Vivitar 285 HV set at 1/4 power bounced off the ceiling. I triggered the flashes with Cybersync equipment.

I was tempted by the look of the pie last time, but the specials board said "lamb, mint and baby pea". Mint? in a lamb stew? Pass. Looks very good though!

Last weekend we took the kids to an apple orchard for the fall harvest. $2 a bag. It was a lot of fun, very autumnal.
Although tempted to move on, I decided to wait to see if a freight followed the Inter-Regio service and was rewarded by this distinctive pairing of MRCE Dispolok Nos. ES64U2097 & ES64F4086 at the head of Train 65911, a new Trenitalia container service that commenced in Q2 2010 operating between Germany and Italy via Luino.

I took this photo at the 2012 Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd's Mission, TX, near Houston in October 2012. This was the 2nd weekend of the TRF and it featured a fairy theme,
The TRF is huge - you really need two days to take it in - there are stage acts, performers, jousts, belly and Brazilian dancers, chain mail models, and pirates everywhere you look - but the best part for me is just walking around people watching - it is incredible. There are so many people in elaborate costumes that my neck hurt from constantly looking in all directions - and they didn't mind me shooting them. What a blast - this is something I'm really looking forward too each year.

For the smallest size, I used just shy of 3 full balls of TLC Cotton Plus. I changed the neckband slightly (added a slipstitch edging, used a knot rather than the buckle), but stuck to the pattern for everything else.
feeling better id say pretty much now, and so very happy. as always really .... life is sweet ...
