The Golden Temple on a Sunday evening, flooded with pilgrims. The two minarets behind the temple in the picture are a part of the building where the Guru Langar keeps serving the pilgrims 24 X 7. If you stand behind that building you can hear the crackle of thousands of plates being washed all the time.
We sat down on the floor beside the holy pool of water for an hour with our eyes closed. It was an altogether different world away from all the tensions and frustrations.

I have stood at various places of natural beauty in Athens, Rome, Jerusalem, Japan, and now in Hampi that have spawned large spiritual outpourings of temple, myths, and infectious god memes. It seems to me that these places, and us, would have been a lot better off if humans were not so susceptible to this type of mind infection.
The buildings do represent an incredible amount of work and artistic beauty, however. Maybe it's just a part of our long term evolution.

The tall pink-purple sticks with Chinese writing in the fore and background are the largest pieces of incense I've seen. Taller than me.
Only one tower remains of the Templar complex at Temple Bruar, and that is incomplete. Only a small piece of Romanesque work can be found low down near the floor.Here's a cat-head - no wonder the Knight's Templars were accused of "worhipping" a cat! They do often seem to occur in their churches.

The temple this year will be built in the tradition of David Best temples, but with a significant departure from his usual style – this temple will be hand-built without CNC cut materials. It will be extremely ornate, with a large interior altar and a large chandelier. This temple will take on an ancient air, patina’ed with organic water-based stains, and look as if it were built hundreds of years in the past.
There will be 8 altars placed around the courtyard, which is walled off to create a protected, quiet, respectful space. The interactivity will be the usual function of the Burning Man temple: it will be a place for the community to come and express their emotions, reflect on the losses of friends and family members, and celebrate the lives of people around them. The temple will be built with the consideration of the community, with adequate space to accommodate the needs of people in the temple and the surrounding courtyard for reflection, safety and privacy. After visiting the shipyards, we visited the famous Kailasgiri Hill. According to Hindu legend, this is where the god Shiva and his goddess Parvati spent their honeymoon.
I took some detail shots of the sculpture work decorating the little ornate temple on Kailasgiri Hill. Here is a cow formed on the corner of the temple. I quite like how this one was carved. From either side of the corner, the cow looks as though it's sitting in perfect profile, only when you look at it directly from the corner do you realise that it's really a cow with one head and two bodies. :)

Chenna Kesava Temple, Pushpagiri, Kadapa.
A 7th Century Temple with a patronage from Cholas to Vijayanagar kings.The intricate sculptures depicting stories of Gods,Kings,Commoners and War would mesmerize the viewers.
Over the years,the temple has been partially destructed by the rulers of the past and as like any other archeology sites this place also has been vandalized by 19th and 20th Century Indian Citizens who have recorded their love affair writings in the temple walls.

The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut is located beneath the cliffs at Deir el Bahari on the west bank of the Nile near the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. Designed by the architect Senemut, the mortuary temple is dedicated to the sun god Amon-Ra and is located next to the mortuary temple of Mentuhotep II, which served both as an inspiration, and later, a quarry. It is considered one of the "incomparable monuments of ancient Egypt."
In the Temple Church, the gargoyles are on the inside instead of the outside, giving visitors a good view of some really funny faces.
most of the temples at Angkor follow a common pattern, with dead-straight corridors through the temples along the north-south and east-west axes of the temple. This one at Preah Khan has retained its Buddha images over the lintel.

Chenna Keshava (Krishna) temple was built in 1268 by the Hoysala general Somanatha, during the reign of king Narasimha III. This gem of a building is the last, and best-preserved, of the major Hoysala temples.
Every set of pillers are unique in design & architecture. Each piller is combination of six pieces joined together.
