The Temples of the Sun and the Moon are located in Cathedral Valley in Capitol Reef National Park. These two sandstone monoliths rise almost 300 feet from the valley floor. The Temple of the Sun is actually slightly larger than the Temple of the Moon which is closer. Our trusty red truck which brought us to this remote location is at the base of the Temple of the Moon.
Happy Truck Thursday!

I'm off early volunteering this morning and it's a grey dismal day. We're having a fire and hopefully baked potatoes if all goes well. Haunted eyes is by Joseph Arthur and this waterfall haunts my bleary eyes this morning.
This image of the ancient Roman temple in Palmyra , Syria , was taken before the barbarians of ISIL arrived. Palmyra was considered by many to be the most important & beautiful Roman city in the world. But this meant nothing to the fanatical Jihadists of ISIL as they trashed the whole site.

Hawaii is an island cluster in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Located almost equally far from America and Asia, it tends to get a lot of tourists from Asia, mostly from Japan. Walking around Honolulu or other villages, you will notice a strong influence from Japanese culture. Japanese restaurants and shops can be found everywhere, while a lot of signs are written in English, Hawaiian and Japanese. Following that far Eastern influence, there are a couple of Japanese sights, like the depicted Byodo-In Temple. It is located in the Valley of the temples, a small meadow surrounded by mountains the summits of which usually disappear in the clouds. There one can find Temples and sacred buildings from various religions. Right in front of the Temple there is a calm lake and other small structures following asian style. the Valley of the Temples is a very quiet, peaceful and picturesque place and it is worth spending an hour to walk around those temples.
