Temple of Gravity by: Zachary Coffin from: Alameda, CA year: 2017
Gravity is a central component of all of Zachary Coffin’s massive, larger-than-life interactive kinetic sculptures and the only force that he believes he can truly have faith in. In 2003, Zachary Coffin built the Temple of Gravity as an expression of the year’s Burning Man theme – Beyond Belief – and this year, we’re bringing the massive 180,000 pound sculpture back for Radical Ritual. The Temple of Gravity is a 60-foot diameter steel dome with 5 arms, each arm supports a suspended granite stone slab (which weighs ~15,000 pounds) and is anchored by a granite base slab. The Temple Mount, known in Judaism as Har haBáyit and in Arabic as the Haram al-Sharif , is one of the most important religious sites in the Old City of Jerusalem. It has been used as a religious site for thousands of years. At least four religions are known to have used the Temple Mount: Judaism, Christianity, Roman religion, and Islam.
Judaism regards the Temple Mount as the place where God chose the Divine Presence to rest (Isa 8:18); according to the rabbinic sages whose debates produced the Talmud, it was from here the world expanded into its present form and where God gathered the dust used to create the first man, Adam. The site is the location of Abraham's binding of Isaac, and of two Jewish Temples. According to the Bible the site should function as the center of all national life—a governmental, judicial and, of course, religious center (Deut 12:5-26; 14:23-25; 15:20; 16:2-16; 17:8-10; 26: 2; 31: 11; Isa 2: 2-5; Oba 1:21; Psa 48). During the Second Temple Period it functioned also as an economical center. From that location the word of God will come out to all nations, and that is the site where all prayers are focused. According to Jewish tradition and scripture (2 Chronicles 3:1-2), the first temple was built by Solomon the son of David in 957 BCE and destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. The second was constructed under the auspices of Zerubbabel in 516 BCE and destroyed by the Roman Empire in 70 CE. Jewish tradition maintains it is here the Third and final Temple will also be built. The location is the holiest site in Judaism and is the place Jews turn towards during prayer. Among Sunni Muslims, the Mount is widely considered the third holiest site in Islam. Revered as the Noble Sanctuary (Bait-ul-Muqaddas) and the location of Muhammad's journey to Jerusalem and ascent to heaven, the site is also associated with Jewish biblical prophets who are also venerated in Islam. After the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem in 637 CE, Umayyad Caliphs commissioned the construction of the al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock on the site. The Dome was completed in 692 CE, making it one of the oldest extant Islamic structures in the world, after the Kaabah. The Al Aqsa Mosque rests on the far southern side of the Mount, facing Mecca. The Dome of the Rock currently sits in the middle, occupying or close to the area where the Bible mandates the Holy Temple be rebuilt.
Chenna Keshava (Krishna) temple was built in 1268 by the Hoysala general Somanatha, during the reign of king Narasimha III. This gem of a building is the last, and best-preserved, of the major Hoysala temples.

The prambanan temple compound has been established in the 9th century and remains the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia and a UNESCO world heritage site.
Many of the 240 originally built temples collapsed during a major earthquake in the 16th century.
We went in horse driven carriage to the Sulamani Temple, where we watched the sunset from an accessible “deck” on the temple. It is a popular spot with tourists for viewing the sunset.

Jagdish Temple is a large Hindu temple in the middle of Udaipur in Rajasthan. A big tourist attraction, the temple was originally called the temple of Jagannath Rai but is now called Jagdish-ji. It is a major monument in Udaipur. The Jagdish Temple is raised on a tall terrace and was completed in 1651. It attaches a double-storey Mandapa (hall) to a double-story saandhara (with a covered ambulatory) sanctum. The mandapa has another storey tucked within its pyramidal samavarna (bell-roof) while the hollow clustered spire over the sanctum contains two more, nonfunctional stories.
Lanes taking off from many of the sheharpanah (city wall) converge on the Jagdish Temple. It was built by Maharana Jagat Singh Ist in 1651. It is an example of Māru-Gurjara Architecture.
Temple of Shame
by The Shame Project
The experience of shame is part of our shared humanity, yet paradoxically, the times when we are ashamed are the times when we feel most alone. But within shame lies a capacity for human connection. The Shame Bearers seek to explore this emotion as a powerful medium for reaching a state of shared vulnerability. In order to make connection –the core human desire– we must believe that we are enough, that we are worthy of love and acceptance. In our vulnerability and our recognition of our mutual imperfections, we can find worthiness and connection. That is the power of this project.
Temple Newsam is a 15th centuryTudor-Jacobean house in Leeds, famous as the birthplace of Lord Darnley, the ill-fated husband of Mary, Queen of Scots and with grounds landscaped by Capability Brown.
The manor of Newsam was owned by the Knights Templar in the 12th century before the estate passed to the Darcy family, and Thomas, Lord Darcy built the first manor house here in about 1500. One wing of Darcy's original manor survives as the central block of the current house.
Darcy was executed for treason for his part in the Pilgrimage of Grace in 1537and his lands were seized by the crown. Henry VIII gave Newsam to the Countess of Lennox, and her son, Henry, Lord Darnley was born and raised here. After Darnley's murder, Elizabeth I seized the estate, and the house languished in a state of neglect until 1622 when it was purchased by Sir Arthur Ingram. Ingram tore down much of the earlier manor house and built two large new wings to form the basis of the house we see today.
In 1758 Charles, 9th Lord Irwin, married a rich heiress and used her money to transform the interior of Temple Newsam and fill it with a collection of fine art including Old Master works. They hired James Wyatt to build a grand staircase, and Capability Brown to create the landscape garden that surrounds the house.
The house was the home of the Ingram family for over 300 years until 1922 when Lord Halifax sold the park and house to Leeds Corporation for a nominal sum, placing covenants over them to ensure their preservation for the future. The house and estate are now owned by Leeds City Council and open to the public.

My second attempt at HDR from a single RAW file. Besakih is the largest temple in Bali. It's also known as the Mother Temple. It was a special day for the Hindus when we were there, so the temple was busy with people who came from all over Bali and other parts of Indonesia. There were special temples for families and people from all kinds of caste and traditional professions. Eg Our guide showed us a temple for blacksmiths and another for warriors. There were also temples for different families. The labyrinth of temples formed part of the besakih temple complex.
Temple of Romolus (Tempio di Romolo) in the Roman Forum (Foro Romano) is a little octagonal construction which should be recognized as the Temple of the Suffered, rather than the temple which emperor Maxentius dedicated to the memory of his son Romulus died in 309 and buried on Via Appia. The bronze door is original. Interior is made of round hall with the two cells in the side apses. In the 6th century pope Felix IV adapted it for the vestibule of the back Church of Santi Cosma e Damiano (Basilica del beato Felice).
Temple of Romolus (Tempio di Romolo) in the Roman Forum (Foro Romano) entrance door of Temple of Romolus (Tempio di Romolo)
In 1947, the restorations of the Imperial Forums gave a new structure to the church. The old entrance, through the Temple of Romulus, was closed, and the temple restored to its original forms; with the Pantheon, the Temple of Romulus is the best preserved pagan temple in Rome. A new entrance was opened on the opposite side (on via dei Fori Imperiali), whose arch gives access to the cloister, and through this to the side of the basilica. Today Temple so-called of Romolus (Tempio cd di Romolo) is indicated as the Temple of Jupiter Stator.
