A new, still growing technical museum in the northern Bohemian city Liberec, which should present the extremely rich industrial and technical history of the region. The exposition halls are growing in the former exposition area, and there are still many unique and very rare exponates hidden in depositories.
Technically, this wasn't a school activity, but I suppose it could have been. These kids are together for school three days a week this semester and we're still loving it. They are learning so much more than I imagined they would. In a broader way. It's wonderful to see them growing together.

I knew this place as Sunderland Poly's Galen Building, where pharmacy was based.

I was given three rolls of 35mm Kodak Technical Pan (expired 2002). I hunted around for a development scheme and finally settled on this. Mostly because I had Rodinal. I'm only posting in case some of you still have some in the fridge.

Rodinal 1+150 for thirteen minutes
Agitate with 30 seconds initial inversions, then 3 inversions at 10 minutes,7 minutes,4 minutes, and 1minute counting down. (every 3 minutes)
Regular stop, fix and hypo.
I used 5ml of Rodinal in 750ml of H2O. That gives less than the recommended 10ml of Rodinal but the negatives really look great (full tone scale).
I had to figure out a curve profile as I felt (and still do) that the midtones were not right. Technical Pan is also a dust magnet; lots of healing tool. Even with Rodinal there is virtually no grain.

which is the company that later becomes or encompasses various record labels including Columbia Records - EMI - Epic Records - Okeh Records - Vocalion Records. Ultimately the company becomes Sony Music Entertainment.
This is a 8 by 10 photograph. It is in excellent condition but it has a slight curl from being stored for about 90 years. The cover paper on the photo is easily removable and is there to protect photographic privacy for the purchaser. This photograph will come with a letter of authenticity attesting to its origin. This rare document originated from the estate of William R. Palmer. William R. Palmer (more commonly referred to as W.R. Palmer) worked for the Columbia Graphophone Manufacturing Company from 1919 to at least 1922.
W.R. Palmer started working for Columbia Graphophone as a power engineer in 1919 but by 1920 his responsibilities had already expanded to earn him the title of General Superintendent of Engineering. W.R. Palmer was involved in proprietary research for the company which included general development work in semi-plastics, acoustics, electro-plating, material testing and specifications, machine developments, cabinet design and manufacturing methods.
He apparently was involved in the planning and development of manufacturing sites for Columbia Graphophone Manufacturing Company. Palmer also apparently worked extensively on the research development of records and phonograph machines for the Columbia Graphophone Manufacturing Company.
Items from his estate included signed cancelled checks from the 1920s, business correspondence and the blueprints and photographs for existing and planned Columbia Graphophone production facilities in Bridgeport, Connecticut and Baltimore, Maryland. He owned detailed photographs of record pressing machines and highly detailed photographs of prototypes of Columbia phonographs in various development stages as well as photos of Columbia Graphophone phonographs that may never have been produced commercially.
During the time period of 1919-1922, only top level executives at the Columbia Graphophone Manufacturing Company would have had access to these type of materials. Moreover since W.R. Palmer was the senior engineer at the company, he probably had photographs and records concerning the day to day operational facilities of Columbia Graphophone Manufacturing Company as well as photographs of stages of phonograph research that most top level executives of Columbia Graphophone would not have have.
W.R. Palmer’s position at the Columbia Graphophone Manufacturing Company from 1920 to 1922 is documented in several volumes of the Bulletin of the National Research Council. This Bulletin is published by the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences, Washington D.C. 1920-1922.
References to W.R. Palmer can be found in the volumes of the abovementioned Bulletin concerning Research laboratories in industrial establishments of the United States, including consulting research laboratories.
So, on tonight's edition of match maker, technic man one has come away with the golden trophy and price of first pick of the technic ladies. The last five months (May-September 2023) required me to move a lot for a variety of professional and personal reasons. It was the first time in several years that I entered airplanes without carrying my DSLR camera. This resulted in me tinkering and thinking with my mobile phone camera, surpassing my snobbish attitude towards it as means of photographic expression. Visiting an old favourite antique store of mine, I was exposed to wallet-sized black and white pictures, very fashionable in the 1920s-1960s. Phenomenologically, I thought, these little pictures carried significance similar to the one carried by the myriads of photos nowadays stored on mobile phones. I tried to combine the sensory experience of black and white with the ease of mobile phone shooting, itself resembling certain types of pinhole cameras. Themes are the same as in my earlier photography: decayed and rusty patterns of disintegration, emptiness of spaces, outlier figures of the everyday, street signs and letters, nonhuman friends, naturecultures, and psychopolitically haunted scenes. Places include: Canada (Toronto), Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Aghia, Larissa, Eleftheroupoli, Kavala), Scotland (Edinburgh), France (Paris), Belgium (Brussels).
