Lord Vader just found out he couldn't bring his lightsaber on the shuttle.... and his extra robotic arm.
Just remembered a project I did at school a few years ago. We were in Graphics class and had to model a mechanical function. The theme I chose was gears and was there any question how I'd portray it?
I liked the idea of making this entry have some sort of funcion/moving effect. This is what I came up with.

This is a model of a signalbox lever frame with interlocking made from Technic LEGO. It is based on the signalbox in a real location and is intended to replicate the operation in as faithful a way as possible with the correct interlocking relationships between each lever in the frame.
The model as depicted here is an advanced work in progress but still has a number of mechanical weaknesses that need to be addressed. However, I am taking a bit of a break from it at present to allow my head to clear. Click through to my album for more details and development photos.
Eighteen-year-old Richard Bernardo from conflict-affected Mindanao, Philippines now works at the ERM Automotive Shop in Zamboanga City after completing a two-month automotive servicing course offered by USAID/Philippines’ EQuALLS2 Project for out-of-school youth in the region. I rebuilt a couple of old MOCs to try out my new Fischertechnic tires I purchased from ebricks.ru.
While I may find fewer applications for these 60mm tires compared to the 80mm ones, these offer a great look for smaller offroad projects. The fit is perfect, and the traction is better than the 56 tires. Check some out if you get a chance.

It's my middle-scale Lego Technic Off-roader. It has very funny LEGO Friends color scheme. My model is stylized as Dodge T-Rex 6x6 pickup truck.

Coccinella septempunctata. A voracious predator that may eat as many as five thousand aphids, hemiptera, and bionicle mask bugs in its brief three- to six-week lifespan. Or until I take it apart. Bold red and black markings warn larger creatures that ABS tastes awful and is hard to chew.
With all those studs, perhaps this one is more "model team" or "creator" than "technic"? It's technic on the inside though. Simple functions. The legs are driven by the black twelve-tooth bevel gear. And the wings, once deployed, flap together from the dark bley eight-tooth gear.
The big 3,000 piece UCS version with motorized legs, elytra, and wings is still under development…

A brochure issued by the then might Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Company Limited, part of AEI, and based at the massive Trafford Park works in Manchester. It is written by Ir. S S Koldijk, the chief engineer of the Rotterdamse Electrische Tramways and concerns the batch of 36 trailers and 34 motor cars that were constructed as post-WW2 replacements for older and war damaged rolling stock for the undertaking. It appears that two experimental motor-cars were ordered first and that originally all 70 cars of the order, placed with Koninklijke Fabrieken van Meubelem en Spoorweg-materieel NV Allen & Co, were to be trailers, this being amended as described. The orders were complicated by post-war shortages and so various components were sourced from many suppliers. This included the 36 sets of electrical equipment ordered from M-V with others being sourced from N.V. Electrotechnische Industrie v/h Willem Smit, Slikkerveer.
The eighteen pages of the brochure give great technical detail as to the manufacturing, construction and performance of these units along with images of car 102. Other manufacturers mentioned include Laycock Engineering of Sheffield, John Baker & Bessemer Ltd, Rotherham and David Brown of Huddersfield all then in West Yorkshire. The Dutch rubber concern of Vredesteyn is mentioned along with L Dikkers of Henglo and wiring by Croon & Co of Rotterdam.
