Turkey, Çatalagzi Colliery. Left hand loco is probably an ex-TCDD 3301 class, Henschel. On the right is (possibly) a Bagnall 060PT, metre gauge or rebuilt from metre to standard. April 1983.
After taking over from DE24 239 at Malatya, E68 054 worked forward on 'Firat Ekspresi' the 08.10 Elazig - Adana, and is seen calling at Fevzipaşa. Locos arriving on this service currently run round here, however a new cut-off tunnel is under construction.

Zomer 1976. Izmir kende destijds een zeer intensief voorstadsverkeer. De treinen werden allemaal met stoom gereden en er waren vele verschillende series. Voor de stoomfans een waar paradijs! Op de foto zo'n voorstadstrein met TCDD 44.017 als trekkracht. Dit is een Pruisische G8 oftewel DB/DR BR 55. Deze locs waren erg succesvol in Turkije en werden overal voor gebruikt.
Summer 1976. Izmirs frequent network of suburban-trains showed a wide variety of steamlocos. A lot of trains were run by TCDD class 44.0 (= German KPEV G8 / BR 55).
Ancient tank engine TCDD 3304 (0-6-0T, built by Henschel 1918) is waiting for the next job at Hisarönü station, Turkey.
Tenderlocomotief 3304 van de TCDD slijt haar laatste dagen in de rangeerdienst te Hisarönü. De machine werd in 1918 gebouwd door Henschel.
TCDD 44079 withdrawn on Catalagzi depot (near Zonguldak)
in 1982. This Hanomag loco of 1931 managed to survive into preservation in Germany. According to Wikipedia it can be found at Darmstadt Kranichstein Museum preserved in KPEV livery.

These engines were used on commuter trains from Haydarpasa until electrification in the early 1970s.
LMS Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 No. 45170, built in 1942, arrived at Shildon from Turkey in 2011. It saw service during World War II and remained until the 1980s with TCDD working mainly trip work & shunting.
