Finally got around to painting this boy. Tan resin is difficult to photograph in natural light, but he is a really nice color!
The Sealston Switcher is at the top end of the Dahlgren Branch with 33 empty trash cars. The train was formerly known as the Emerald Express when the trainset was comprised of pretty green tub cars that have since been replaced. The train sees daylight only for a short time after going on duty at 6pm, and only during the longer days of the year/
Men genderbending as female characters don't usually work well. This is an exception to this rule. Tim really went to town on his masculine version of Hela (I guess Fella could be an apt name?) from the "Thor: Ragnarok" movie.
I had an idea of what I wanted this photo to invoke (a death god, reaching down for you, with a spooky/supernatural environment). So I added in a green fog (via my new PS fog brushes), and ran the full image through Color Efex Pro (four or five different filters - can't remember exactly which ones) and Topaz Adjust's Black Rose filter (faded down to 20-30% strength under the "Multiply" setting) which gave Tim and the fog some uneven and a bit splotchy black and green fog and dark edginess to work with.
My goal at Katsucon was to be more artistic and try new and creative tools/settings on my photos.

One of the SW1200RS switchers that switch the British petroleum refinery in Whiting. BP has been setting the 1200's on the old Pennsylvania Fort Wayne mainline for minor repairs recently, but I never got to photograph them because of cars behind me. I didnt get out of my car because there are lots of camera's around, and I don't want to get bothered by BP cop's they can get real nasty and force you to delete stuff, or so ive been told. I havent been bothered by them since 2002, and I want to keep it that way ;)

With the first car unloaded it's shoved in the clear under the highway overpass and cut off from the rest. This would be repeated for each car once empty to allow for the pieces to be picked up and the car rolled out from underneath. Most of the switch cars have been the red recent rebuilds, this orange one on the other hand has been in this service much longer and has the scars to show it. July 2, 2020.
