The F and the SD45 work the elevator track at Allenton, WI. It was odd to see the bulky-looking F45 traversing the barely visible side track and making subtle switch moves.
Iowa Northern switches cars in Manly, IA after a UP job from Mason City dropped off a whole train for them.
The Pleasant Valley local switches some cars at Willada (Lancaster). They'll soon be back on their way.
Finally got around to painting this boy. Tan resin is difficult to photograph in natural light, but he is a really nice color!
VIA 202 hard at work switching cars in the yard on the Dartmouth Model Railway Club layout. 202 is a detailed Athearn SW1000. Cars in the scene are Rapido LRCs and Evangeline Park (modernized), Rapido's Glen Fraser lounge, and my model of Panorama 1720.
For decades, Otter Tail Power used one particular style of switch on its system, and one day I happened across an installation with one switch closed and the other one open, so I decided to get this picture showing the two positions of the operating handle. The left one is the 'open' position while the other is the 'closed' position.
I'd imagine it would be a bit of a pain to operate one of these 'KPF' switches during a winter storm... newer switch designs use a rotating lever, where the sequence is simply unlock, raise lever, rotate, lower lever, and lock.
With the KPF switch, as the rod moves up or down by the handle, it operates a crank that swings the movable side of the switch to the corresponding open or closed position.
This switch has long been discontinued, and the company is starting to replace them with newer models as part of ongoing maintenance.

The Sealston Switcher is at the top end of the Dahlgren Branch with 33 empty trash cars. The train was formerly known as the Emerald Express when the trainset was comprised of pretty green tub cars that have since been replaced. The train sees daylight only for a short time after going on duty at 6pm, and only during the longer days of the year/
