Supporting more than 180 species of local and migratory waterbirds and protected under the international Ramsar wetlands preservation treaty, Thale Noi is Thailand’s largest waterfowl reserve. Birdwatchers are joined by flora enthusiasts looking to glide through pink waterlilies that bloom by the thousands. Locals weave grass mats and fish off stilted platforms, adding splashes of culture to this increasingly popular natural attraction.
The marshy, 450-square-kilometre Thale Noi (Small Lake; also spelt Talay) is the northernmost of the bodies of water that make up Thale Sap (Freshwater Lake), also known as Songkhla Lake. Birdlife is most abundant from November to March, when flocks travel here from as far north as Siberia. From February to April, the birds glide above hot-pink waterlilies amid a brilliant sea of colour.
The heron and stork family is prevalent in Thale Noi, with plumed egrets and purple herons fairly easy to spot. Also well-represented are purple swamp hens that show off their stunning blues, greens and indigos while hopping awkardly from one patch of greenery to the next. Rarer species include the bronze-winged jacana, cotton pygmy goose and the brahminy kite, a handsome thing that looks like a smaller cousin of the bald eagle.

Have a happy Friday and a great weekend, everyone. 😊
HFF!
I know it doesn't look like I've made much progress for having an entire free day to do it, but it's been a very frustrating build experience. I actually built those segments that loop under the armpits, only to find that I didn't make the loop exaggerated enough, and whenever I rested my arms by my sides, they broke under the pressure. Also, things just started to fall apart in general, such as a the entire bottom of the backpack, and the joints between the front and back of the suit also started cracking, so I had to resort to some extreme measures that I am ashamed of: I used glue, LOTS of glue, and so far it's worked pretty well. But I guess I can't do a good balance of aesthetics and durability. Well, you should DEFINiTELY expect this to be done by tomorrow. I swear.
Hello my Flickr friends!!!
Today is an amazing yellow day at Color my World Daily and at *ღღ* Cosas de casa *ღღ* we celebrate books !
Yellow Lady always wanted to learn how to knit but she never had time to do so…But since the beginning of social distancing and her quarantine, Yellow Lady has all the time she wanted to learn! Her friend Mr.Teddy Bear, told her that it was a perfect time to self-reflect and to learn something in our lives (that is what he did yesterday …) ! She decided to start today and since it is a yellow day, why not climb a lemon and bring all the necessary to knit. First: the tiny scissors…. She climbed up, put the scissors in place and got down…Then the basket of wool…. second time climbing…. Second time going down….Then the wool… yes I know she should have put the wool in the basket and take everything at once but she didn’t though ahead so she had to climb the ladder for the third time…Then the needles… fourth climb of the ladder… then fourth time going down… She forgot her precious purse while climbing with the needles, so the fifth climb was to get her purse…
At the top of her lemon for the 5th time, Yellow Lady was exhausted… Then she realized that her book on How to knit was all the way down, at the bottom of the ladder… She was about to have a nervous breakdown… Yes, I know climbing a ladder 5 times isn’t that hard but keep in mind that she spent two weeks in quarantine doing absolutely nothing and now she was social distancing from every known activities… Yellow Lady was a little bit rusty and she did put some extra weight for sure….so ladder climbing was truly painful… How was she supposed to learn how to knit when she did not have her book … and of course, no internet connection on the top of the lemon, so no YouTube tutorials…
That is it ! she had enough. She decided not to go back for her book. She will just stay at the top of her lemon, with all her knitting supplies, watching birds fly by and trying to see some recognizable shapes in the clouds…She had her purse with a bottle of sherry, her tiny glass was at home but since there was no one around she could drink straight from the bottle (social distancing has its positive sides also, you don’t need to be a “lady” all the time)... thinking about all the magnificent scarfs she will knit one day for her friends. Yellow Lady was enjoying her social distancing time, just doing nothing…and that is ok also! Learning about yourself is even better than learning how to knit…
Ok, now I really have to run to my office (dining room), I have a conference call in 1 minute and I don’t know if I will be able to make it !!! I’m almost late and I’m as rusty as Yellow Lady sitting all day, doing nothing ;-) !!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts / positive vibes!! It is truly appreciated! Have a great day and see you soon!!

Even turtles need emotional support now and then. This one just prefers the kind that buzzes, lands uninvited, and doesn’t respect personal space.
These people are my people. It's as easy as that. I'm not sure I'll ever have the right, important enough words for what these two mean to me.
They are my daily laughter and sanity and support. They are, very simply, the best friends and humans a girl could ever ask for. ♥
Grateful for years of friendship across too many miles, and a lifetime more to come.

One of the best murals I’ve seen in a long time, maybe ever. It has such wonderful depth and there are actual pieces of rebarb protruding from the artwork. Located near Chico State University and across the street from an awesome New York style pizzeria.
Interesting fact: this is the second version of this mural in the same spot. The building was remodeled, but the company loved the mural so much, they hunted down the artist and requested it be recreated exactly as it was before.
It’s ok to seek and receive support.
One morning while sitting at the kitchen table I was looking at the flowers in front of me. I noticed there were two yellow flowers—one of them pointed upward and the one next to it was curled downward and was resting on the one that looked like it was standing tall. I thought of the word “together” and the series of images I’ve taken with this theme that has been very meaningful and helpful for me. I spent some time with these flowers, sitting on top of the kitchen table (so I could get the best vantage point) taking several “together” photos. In some of the pictures I noticed the downcast flower—that was receiving support from the flower that was standing tall—was in the shadows while the tall flower was in more direct sunlight which was relatable and added to the meaning for me. I appreciated the beautiful reminder that it’s ok to seek and receive support.

I notice I’ve experienced a deep interest in capturing “together” photos in nature—two plants or leaves together at various stages of growth or decay. This reminds me of moments with a few people who are of incredible support to me, moments when I was not alone (feeling and/or being alone has often been my experience throughout my life) and what a gift it is to truly be together in each other’s presence, connected in a healthy, meaningful, mindful, validating, authentic, caring way, to be seen and accepted in a healing way (which I believe also has some similarities to relationship with God). This can be scary and overwhelming because it’s so unfamiliar to me. It has taken me a significant amount of time to even be able to try to put the meaning I see in my “together” photos into words because it is a very deep, foreign experience to me and I didn’t really have the words for it. And I’m so thankful that these “together” moments I find in nature gently remind me it’s ok and even healthy to be together in healthy connection with others who are safe for me as I work to navigate my intense, challenging, meaningful and rewarding healing journey.

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account
I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.
If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:

I am a very serious person...
...99.9% of the time.
I despise chickens and all chicken-related things (books, humor, art, etc.). Even the sight or mention of a chicken makes me groan inside. Then why in the world would I choose to build this?
Occasionally, when my mind is tired, not knowing what to think or even why to think, I fall into absurdity. In short, I cave. My seriousness leaves, and in its place stands incoherent gibberish. I embrace what I don't like, even if that means chickens.
So in a way, this creation represents the utter nonsense that can spout forth from a brain that really is not thinking clearly.
Speaking of that, Chicken Little is a story about some foolish young fowl who has a piece of something fall on its head (it may be an acorn, or a leaf, or a raindrop; who knows?). It goes berserk and insists that "The sky is falling!!". Thenceforth Chicken Little makes a huge fuss over it and gathers fellow animals to go warn the ruler of the area. The group meets a sly fox (what other kind of fox would there be?), who convinces the gullible animals that the way to the ruler goes right through the fox's lair. They enter the lair and the fox eats them all. (Or, if you like the other versions better, they escape and warn the ruler, but still turn out to be incorrect about the sky.)
So I think that that image of hysteria is what I've captured in this obnoxious little build. Whenever I feel like blurting out whatever my immediate reaction to my circumstances is, this chicken can remind me to always think before I speak, lest I believe the world will end and thereby fulfill my own prophecy through my own ignorance.
Don't worry, I promise that the next creations I submit will be serious in nature. This one is not a new precedent for me.
This chicken is a bauble-head; it has a technic axle as its neck that would need to be flexible if this were to become a set so that the head could wobble. The wings and tail can flap.
And yes, that is a canoe.
