To support vulnerable families in the landlocked nation of Niger which has little arable land for farming, Plan International distributed a breeding pair of goats to 440 vulnerable families to provide them with the means to feed their children better, as the goats provide them with milk, cheese, meat and an extra income.
The red-haired Maradi goat is known as the ëdairy cowí of the poor. The species is very prolific as it can give birth to 2, 3 or 4 kids every year. It also produces a good milk yield which is rich in vitamin A and easy to digest, particularly by young children. Its meat is tasty and tender, and its skin is highly sought after for making luxury leather goods.
The goats were distributed to female-headed households living in the regions of Dosso and Maradi who have at least one malnourished child under the age of five.

On Saturday (4/30/16) Clean Bread and Cheese Creek Community Cleanups worked with over 50 volunteers and Friends of the Hard Yacht Cafe room remove over 109 bags of trash, dozens of DVD Movies, 7 tires (one from a back hoe), 2 fire extinguishers, 2 gallons of used motor oil, a leather couch and love seat, a pipe rack, a chest of drawers and much more from the Peninsula Expressway. Thank you to all our incredible hard working volunteers for another incredible job!
We would also like to thank the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and American Rivers for all their assistance and support on this cleanup. Thank you so much Giant Food Pharmacy, Walmart Dundalk, Tradepoint Atlantic for your generous donations allowing is to purchase much needed supplies! Royal Northern Infirmary, Inverness
The building of the RNI was suggested in 1797 and subscriptions were invited. The driving force behind the project was Provost William Inglis.
It was built between 1799 and 1804 by John Smith of Banff as a three-storeyed main block bracketed by two lower wings. The masons were James and Alexander Nicol of Kintessack, near Forres, and Hugh Suter of Inverness.
Alterations were carried out in 1864-66 by Mathews and Lawrie and a front block was added in 1896-98 by Ross and MacBeth. A Festival of Britain porch was added in 1954.
