TAO supports orphans & vulnerable children by training their carers to create agri-businesses. Since 2011, we have introduced an innovative, essential and highly successful component into our projects. We have worked with our beneficiaries to provide the training to work together in groups and negotiate with commercial buyers to receive good market prices for their produce. This means they have to sell in bulk and that their produce has to be high quality. To ensure the latter, we have provided tarpaulins on which grains can be dried cleanly.

In response to the Congressional budget debacle which proved that DC is but a colony -- prone to being singled out unlike any other city in the country -- a number of activists, elected officials, and general citizens came out in force upon the grounds of Capitol Hill.
The crowd first formed on the sidewalk, but after some opening remarks by elected officials and activists: they quickly spilled into the street. The Capitol Police had been on hand & I'd thought it amusing that a couple were taking photos & videos... it wasn't until I saw the wristbands come out when I realised these weren't officers enjoying the moment; they were recording evidence.
With many minutes of warning, large portions of the group shifted over the sidewalk; whilst a core of dedicated supporters -- including our Mayor, a number of councilmembers, and members of DC Vote -- remained behind to block the roadway. The officers began to surround the group & repeated their warnings to get back on the sidewalk or face arrest.
Now in all fairness to the Capitol Police: they were doing their job. They were quite courteous about it & the protest was similarly jubilant right back. One woman was first to be bound, soon followed by several other activists. Then came Muriel Bowser: first councilmember to be arrested.
In general, I tend to dislike political grandstanding... but this was different. If our council was being arrested by our own police, I'd think it a cheesy photo op... but now our locally-elected officials were being arrested by the very forces we were out to protest: the Feds. This wasn't a mere photo op arrest; this was actually a legitimate arrest... the kind of thing that goes on your record; the kind of thing you spent a night in jail for.
Now granted, I don't expect anyone will be in jail longer than tomorrow; I'd be surprised if any were still locked up by midnight tonight. But it was Councilmember Bowser's arrest which really hit a moment... you could see the look on her face was of some worried concern: someone who had never been arrested before & didn't show up here today expecting to be arrested. As she was placed into the police van: her look of concern changed to a bit more worry. I mean this as no knock against Councilmember Bowser's committment; rather I felt it really help to humanise the entire event. It made me respect her all the more.
Yvette Alexander stood right beside us for quite some time, complicated in that she didn't have her ID on her. While it was entertaining to see our top officials being frisked, it was also quite entertaining that our easily-recognisable councilmember needed her ID... prompting a standerby to call one of her staffers with the best introduction I've ever heard over a phone: "Hi, your councilmember has been arrested." Also, kudos to Councilmember Alexander for going to jail in high heels!
There is a lot I can complain about with the council in general; and certainly with individual councilmembers & even the mayor. Heck, that's what politicians are for: you're not supposed to always like them. But this was an opportunity to set aside some of those issues (frankly, I'd say DC was glad to have a unifying moment after the past couple weeks) and cheer on our own brothers & sisters as they stood up in support of our rights.
It was certainly a proud moment to be a DC resident and a fine boost to our collective esteem after several weeks of turmoil within our local & federal levels of government. It's aggravating that my support for small & local government is inhibited by those in Congress whom advocate small & local government. If I wanted to live in a colony, I'd have moved to Williamsburg.
PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - The 641st Regional Support Group, an Army Reserve logistics and transportation brigade based in St. Petersburg, Fla., conducted a Best Warrior Competition and Officer Challenge Jan. 24 at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.
Both competitions took place during the final full day of Operation Responsive Sentinel, a sustainment training and disaster relief field exercise comprising approximately 20 units and 900 Soldiers. Resolve Sentinel's operational and tactical missions at Port Canaveral, Patrick AFB and the Air Force's Malabar Transmitter Annex offered numerous opportunities for the troops to apply their military and civilian skills to plan, organize and execute objectives on land and sea.
The Best Warrior Competition featured six enlisted Soldiers representing several companies and battalions attached to the 641st RSG. The half-dozen men and women faced off in a various warrior-oriented tasks ranging from a written exam and sergeants major interview board to a ruck march and a rifle and pistol qualification round.
The top two competitors will represent the 641st RSG in the 143d Sustainment Command
(Expeditionary)'s Best Warrior Competition planned for March 9-13 at Camp Blanding, Fla.
While specialists and sergeants shot, sang, ran and marched their way to the finish line, scores of junior officers formed at Patrick AFB's Education and Training Center to test their strength, dexterity, memory and morale in the 641st RSG's officer challenge. Teams of five officers competed at six unique
stations spread along a six-mile route. The challenge began with map reading and rank recognition events, continued with casualty evacuation scenario and a ethical dilemma, and concluded with a physical challenge and rifle marksmanship.

In April, 1996, volunteer visitors from Arbroath/Carnoustie Victim Support received accreditation certificates on completion of Stage I and Stage II training. In the picture were, from left, back - Chief Inspector Bill Stephen, Heather Rogers, Sheriff Norrie Stein, Kay Small and Chief Superintendent Stewart Davidson: seated - Trish Anderson, Frances Andrews, Bob McPherson, Maureen Morrison and Dan Powell.
I made this mainly because many have been losing the will to do things. Not just photography or editing in photo shop. I absolutely love these two things so I'm going to support anyone who does these things. Someone has to keep the movements and feelings and creativity alive!

There are lots of magnets made to look like looped pieces of ribbon that are fastened to motor vehicles here in Houston. By far the most common magnetic ribbon-emulating object is yellow and reads "Support Our Troops".
The Region's support for the United Way started in the 1970s, with the first campaign supported by Council in 1976. The campaign raised $250,000 with 13 participating agencies in York Region, including an employee payroll deduction program. For many years York Region residents have contributed to the United Way of Metro Toronto. The Region launched its campaign, The United Way of York Region (now United Way Greater Toronto), to benefit York Region's community services.
In 1980, the Region supported United Way, including payroll deductions and flying its flag at the Region's Administrative Building and United Way to campaign on Regional property to employees with the implementation under the Chief Administrative Officer. Ten years later, Council endorsed and supported the first Regional employee-run United Way campaign, and it continues to be run by employees ever since. Employees for John Deere Ag & Turf Division in Cary, N.C., donate more than 560 school backpacks for North Carolina National Guard Family Programs, Aug. 21, 2015. The employees of the military appreciation group lead by Gail Dawes, wife of NCNG Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Dawes, carried, drug and tossed the packs in the back of a NCNG Medium Tactical Vehicle for transport to Guard HQ and later distribution to Guard families during upcoming drills. The employees continue a commitment began by the company in 2005 supporting various family programs events including Christmas meal donations. “It is important to walk the walk, it is everything to us,” said Denver Caldwell, manager of U.S. and Canada turf marketing. The bags will be stuffed with school supplies from previous donations from Wells Fargo, Operation Homefront and Dollar Tree. SFIFF 54- ASLEEP IN THE SUN-
Director ALEXJANDRO CHOMSKI skillfully directs an adaption of Argentina's famous 1973 book ALSEEP IN THE SUN.
Part allegory, part political horror and all around fancinating film about a 'cure' for a nervous disorder supported by a hidden 'odd' medical agency that has some connections to the local dog adoption center.
The handsome & devoted husband LUCIO ( LUIS MACHIN) wants only the best for his slowly tearing-at-the-seams wife DIANA (ESTHER GORIS). The quiet neighborhood of PARQUE CHAS, an actual place in Buenos Aires which was constructed in the 1920's with the houses going on within endless circles within circles. The neighborhood seems to be lost in time in this perfect 1950's setting.
Has Lucio found the perfect answer to ease the stress and demands of his 1950's homelife and his wife's mental problems? Not everyone puts up with DIANA's bizarre statements and behavior. Her sister even states, "Her (Diana's) only merit is to have a hubby who puts up with her."
Diana is agrees to to adopt a dog to cheer her up. The doctor states when she thinks maybe she is not crazy just depressed, " Don't mistake sadness with maddness." Before the dog adoption, the pseudoscientist wants her to check in to a medical clinic for a stay. Unfortunately, there is more than just puppy-love to contend with when Diana is checked into a specialized clinc which seems to be attached to the local SPCA.
DIANA's sister sees an opportunity to bed hunky LUCIO when DIANA is in the clinic. He refuses her numorous passes, she retorts, "You are stubborn, and NOT at all a man!"
LUCIO, a watch-repair person walks into the 'phrenopatico' clinic to see it the doctor's shelf filled with clocks in different states of array. " A clock that doesn't work gives a bad impression.", he says. This was his first clue that something was amiss with the clinic.
DIANA does go through the secret treatment which even the audience is not privey to, yet.
Everything seems fine when Diana returns home to her faithful husband until his wife starts to agree to unique requests such as a walk in a park and some other sexual favors. "Life is strange. Strange isn't strange.", responds his wife when questioned about her different attitudes. DIANA is aware that her sister is a pain-in-the-butt, "You must of loved me to put up with my family." No truer words were spoken. The sister states one of the best lines in the film when she sees the new dog, "Is that bitch Diana's replacement?"
The dotting husband wants to give his wife a guard dog to protect her & keep her company. Though he acknowledges, "It is the end of the guard dog's duties when you put a bitch (dog) that's in heat next to him." "True", says, the kennal owner, "Though, a dog doesn't guarentee happiness."
LUCIO wants to find out what happened to his wife. "I want my wife back" he tells the doctor when he returns to the clinic. The doctor states, "What's being normal? Not being normal?" LUCIO will not let go and he tries to investigate what is going on at the clinic.
He soons finds out but not before he gets overpowered and falls into the doctors plans. "Soulmigration. I put her soul in her dog." He quickly tries to escape but not before he writes a letter explaining his predictiment. Of course, LUCIO winds up as the new 'patient', though with a humourous abit sad ending.
This magical realism film was applauded and definately enjoyed by everyone. The Director ALEJANDRO CHOMSKI used the film as a metaphor for citizens who are controlled by totalarism and government. "It is very difficult for citizens to top the government from unfairness.", he stated. He wanted the film to be timeless with a feel of the 1950's, but the Film Designer wanted to have specific to get the sets and clothing in the right period. "OK, so it is 1952, in July, and the date is the 10th." The film hit the mark with it's erie tone and subdued color-neutral lighting. "I did not want extreme contrast. Everything had to have a "non-clearness". It is like another world. A fairytale in the past."
The audience remarked about the sharp style of the doctors and their building and environment. "Bad people have good taste." said the director.
There were several references to the Amercian film, 'The Stepford Wives". The 1950's feel was referenced because during that time everyone had a clear role, such as the husband was the 'breadwinner' and the wife ' the homemaker'.
Even the dogs in the film got a shout-out. "Actors should be as good actors as the dogs!", he responded and the audience 'howled'.

Community health worker Eunice Nalokita, 23, conducts a mother-to-mother support group in her village of Manyatta Zebra in central Kenya. Eunice, together with her fellow community health worker, Christine, founded the group with the support of our partner ADSMKE.
Eunice and Christine teach women about hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, how to breastfeed and about the importance of going to antenatal check-ups and delivering in hospital.
In the three years since the group was set up the health of women and children in the village has been transformed. For example, there are very few cases of diarrhoea now as women know how to treat water and have much better levels of hygiene in the home.
As part of the mother support group the women in the village were given chicks to rear and were shown how to grow their own vegetables. They use the money they get from selling their excess crops to buy more seeds.

The start was on a cold and rainy saturday afternoon in Amsterdam.

Chiltern Air Support Unit, provides operational air support to Thames Valley Police, Bedfordshire Police and Hertfordshire Constabulary through a funding arrangement between the three forces.
The Chiltern Air Support has two helicopters that cover the five counties of the three forces – Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. One helicopter - Eurocopter EC135P2 (G-TVHB) is based at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire and the other is based at RAF Henlow in Bedfordshire.

Tread mount sub-assemblies are welded to the standard rectangular steel tube stringer. A laser cut cap is then welded to the tube stringer covering the structural welds. It is simultaneously used as a jig in fabrication of the stinger.

This artistic provocation seeks to estimate the orders of magnitude of critical ecosystem services fundamental to all planetary life processes. It is common to use economic metaphors, which entail specific understandings of value, to describe our relationships with society, the world, and the biosphere. Today’s prevailing economic conventions are unable to recognize the intrinsic value of the ecosystems on which all life depends. In cultures overdetermined by concepts from economics, we are left without adequate discursive instruments to socially or politically address the importance of ecosystem contribution to life on Earth. This experiment consists of 1 square meter of wheat, cultivated in a closed environment. Critical inputs such as water, light, heat, and nutrients are measured, monitored, and displayed for the public. This procedure makes palpable the immense scale of ecosystem contributions and provides a speculative reference for a reckoning of the undervalued and over exploited “work of the biosphere.”

Class 508 unit No. 508201 after being withdrawn this unit was located at the
Emergency Services Training College in Seacombe on the Wirral.
But has since been moved and stored at Rail Support Services at Wishaw in Warwickshire.
The British Rail Class 508 (4PER) was a class of electric multiple unit (EMU) passenger train built by British Rail Engineering Limited, at Holgate Road carriage works, York, in 1979 and 1980. They were a variant of British Rail's standard 1972 design for suburban EMUs, eventually encompassing 755 vehicles and five classes (313/314/315/507/508). They mostly worked on the Merseyrail network from 1982 until withdrawal on 16th January 2024.
