It was the end of a cool, sunny June day on Lake Michigan, at Grand Haven, MIchigan, USA. Since it was a very cool weekday, before school is out for the summer, the beaches were empty...a most relaxing time to vacation.
Sunset, also called sundown in some American English dialects, is the instant when the trailing edge of the sun's disk disappears below the horizon in the west. It should not be confused with dusk, which is the point at which darkness falls, some time after the beginning of twilight when the sun itself sets.

A cloudy and colorful sunset photo of the Des Moines, Iowa skyline taken in June 2024. The tallest building is the 801 Grand Building with the old AT&T microwave tower just to the right. You can also just see the clock tower on top of the Polk County Courthouse to the left of all the other taller buildings. Near the bottom right is come obvious road construction on Court Avenue near the State Capitol area.
