Here's a Vertorama of last Sunday's sunset... captured on the rocks at Melkbos Strand.
I didn't have my tripod with me... so I was shooting everything hand-held. I decided to open up the aperture more than I would normally do... to ensure a fast shutter speed... to prevent camera-shake and to freeze the splashes of the waves crashing against the rocks. This was probably the best splash of the afternoon... it wasn't very big... but that little bit of water in the lower left-hand corner that seems to be defying gravity... that really makes this shot for me!
Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm, aperture of f8, with a 1/250th second exposure.

I drove up the road from my house so I could get a higher vantage point to catch this sunset. Even though it's pretty flat where I live, and the background can be cluttered, I wasn't disappointed.
Sunsets in Africa can be spectacular. In early November, I caught thus sunset in Botswana from a flat bottomed boat on the Chobe River. I traveled through a photography focused tour company - Pangolin - and they were spectacular. Not only did they help me get to the best locations at the right time and at the correct angle, but they also provided a camera to my wife and helped her learn how to photograph the wildlife and scenery. 20241114Elephant&CalfChobe
