Take nothing but photos , leave nothing but footprints !!!
Sunset over Nuwara Wewa, (which literally translates to "City Reservoir") (built around 200BC) Anuradhapura in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The Chitya (stupa/ pagoda) on the left is Ruwanveliseya and the one on the right (half restored) is Jetawanarama.
Ruwanveliseya was built by King Dutu Gamunu (161-137 BC) and was 300ft tall.
Jetawanarama was constructed by King Mahasen (276-303 CE) was about 400 ft tall. (this in fact was one of the largest Brick structures of the ancient world and was as tall as the 3rd great pyramid of Giza!!) A third Stupa (not in the picture) Abhyagiriya was constructed by King Walagamba in 103BC was over 320ft tall.
Ruwanveliseya was restored to its former glory in 1956 to celebrate the 2500th annivasary of the enlightenment of Buddha. The other 2 stupa are being restored under the UNESCO.
The ancient city of Anuradhapura is one of the many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka.

I’m getting fidgety. I want to get back out onto the road again. Although I should really be doing my best to enjoy this lovely bout of weather we’re having.
I went to the coast to take photos this evening. I took my shoes off and carried my tripod into the sea. I shouted ‘What the f….?’ For some reason I was expecting the water to be warm. It didn’t occur to me that I’d end up with the flu after today’s shoot. Damn you North Sea!
Today’s Photo – Sunset on the Singapore coast
Changi village was a place with warm sea and beautiful weather. Rachel and I spent a lovely day here, strolling around and saying hello to the people drinking beer and fishing.
I miss this place.
Cruise passengers got a special treat tonight as the brilliant colors in the sky were also reflected in Elliott Bay.
Sorry this is late, but I was busy all weekend. I took this on Saturday night before it was a different sunset (look in comments) and then it went to this!
On cloudy evenings, Australia's Red Centre is host to extraordinary deep orange sunsets.
