I've previously posted a couple of shots of this same scene if it looks familiar. This time I processed it to show a little detail in the boats and the pelican as well as covering a bit more of the dynamic range using HDR techniques. The Flickr Original starts to show some of the detail of the 'true' original (6 times larger) that I'm hoping might show up ok on a large canvas print.
A 3 image blend using Photomatix with further processing in Photoshop and Lightroom. I was lucky to salvage the originals from a hard-drive that failed on me some time ago. Now I'm finally getting around to looking at what images I had lost and processing some with new techniques I've learned since they were taken. When I photographed this I got a few different sets as the pelican conveniently decided to move across my shot. I had the camera set to take multiple exposures so when the pelican drifted through the foreground I was able to get a few sets and have some choice later on his position in the scene. The Photomatix "de-ghosting" tool was very helpful here. My previous uploads have him moving away from the centre of the scene on the left. This time I used the shots where he is moving in towards the centre which I think gives it a different dynamic. I'd be interested in feedback on the positioning as I'm not really up on the 'rules' in this respect.

One from a week or so ago at Gwithian beach. The sky lit up nicely as the sun went down behind a cloud layer on the horizon.

This shot is pretty heavily edited but retains some of the colors that we saw this evening. Marvelous end to a less than mediocre day.
Glad I carried a wee camera in the car, superb sunset reflected in the waters of Gladhouse reservoir.
I was able to sit and enjoy a bit of this awesome sunset with my love about 2 weeks ago. Those moments, like a sunset, always seem so fleeting, yet stunning in their impact and importance to the grounding of the soul. Living ferry rides and hours drive apart sucks. But, again, like sunsets, the small moments you have to just sit in aww of how amazing life can be, are so worth it.

Went down to Sassaquin Pond in New Bedford last night to watch the, how shall I say, less-than-official fireworks that several residents launch over the pond for Independence Day. I got quite a few busy shots with lots of fireworks bursting over the pond, but I liked this comparatively calm shot, with a single airburst over the late stages of sunset over the pond, best.
Nikon D7000 w/Tokina 11-16 @ 11mm, 8s @ Æ’/22, ISO100. Color finishing in Nik Viveza, with some minor tweaks in Aperture.
