Here's a neat way to truly brighten up your home with gorgeous art. These suncatchers have a lovely glow when the sun lights them up, and they also make you happy on a cloudy day.
My Mandala Suncatchers feature my original designs. These designs started out as paintings on vinyl records. Digital photos of the paintings are printed onto transparent decal material and affixed to an upcycled clear plastic c.d. I then drill a hole through the disk and attach a suction cup on a hook so it's easy to hang it in the window and let the sun shine in!
In the pictures you can see what they look like hanging in a window with the sky as background. I love how the shadows of the clouds can be seen through the mandalas.
We had a spell of freezing rain and everything had a beautiful, nasty layer of ice on it the next day. The following day there was still enough in some places to catch the morning rays.
Mistral wind took lot of things on the beach; with weeds and branches I made this, when I saw the pictures I thought it could be a kind of instrument useful to catch the sun and I started to create some suncatchers ... enjoy
Wish you this week a wind that brings ideas!
If you are my friend, it's always possible that I'll show up on your doorsteps with boxes of broken glass and copper wire and pretty beads and various other bright and shiny objects.
If you hang them and enjoy watching the light reflect off the glass then you are probably really the kind of person I can be friends with.
My studio faces east and I often have the pleasure of following the sun's movement across the morning sky. This suncatcher hangs in my window and brings the light of the sun just a little closer......

These 3-D Tree Of Life Agate Slabs look great as a suncatcher hanging on the porch, over a window, on the wall or adorning your favorite shelf. You can even place a tealight candle (preferably the flameless flicker effect kind) on the back of the stand, dim the lights some and you have a marvelously mysterious effect!

i've done this one once before, but i needed to make some changes to the pattern before i'd do another. here are some of the types of glass that i'm going to use in the project.
This stained glass panel/suncatcher measures 10 3/8" from point to point (just over 26cm). As a square this piece measures 7 1/2" by 7 1/2" (nearly 19cm).
I've used 13 clear glass bevels of various sizes along with accents of streaky purple Waterglass. Very sparkly and prismatic.

'Night Visions'. Glass, salvage, tintypes, feathers. Opening doors in copper and brass. Donna Ellery
I created this beaded suncatcher from steel wire (wire which has a much warmer, golden tone than is normally seen in steel) and glass beads. These beads, with which her wings are decorated, come in varying shades of turquoise and red.
The lower wings of this butterfly curve into a point at the ends. Between these two points, this suncatcher measures 18cm (7") wide. From the tops of its wings to the bottom, it measures 14cm (5.5") high. A loop of clear plastic thread is tied through a loop between her curled antennae, allowing her to be hung by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any plain corner of your home to add a little colourful, quirky style.
This suncatcher was created for the UK Etsy Challenge group on Flickr. The theme for March is "Red and turquoise". Visit www.flickr.com/groups/uketsychallenge/ for more entries to the Challenge.

I created this linear beaded hanging from copper wire and an eclectic mixture of glass beads. These brightly-coloured beads have been arranged in the colours of the rainbow, going downwards from red to purple. The beads loop together with repurposed chain and twists of wire, and there are also three wire hearts along the length of this piece. All this hangs from a loop of wrapped copper wire.
This suncatcher measures 68cm (27") long. It could be hung by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any plain corner of your home to add colour and a little quirky, colourful handmade style.
Thank you for taking the time to view this piece.

scribbled the idea one night, put it together the next day. this little suncatcher measures 5 1/2 inches diameter, nearly 14cm.
I made this bat-shaped suncatcher from steel wire (which has a much warmer, yellowish tone than is normally seen in steel) and a mixture of glass beads in various translucent shades of purple. It has a wingspan of 19.5cm (just under 8"), and measures just under 5cm (just under 2") from the top of the head to its bottom. It hangs from a loop of purple ribbon, which loops through the top of its head.
You could hang this suncatcher by a window to catch the sunlight, or perhaps give her to a bat fan for their birthday. Thank you for taking the time to view this bat.
