This one cloud seemed determined to hold onto the sun to keep it from setting Hidden River Events, Asheville, NC Lisa Foster, photographer
It was early morning and I was out for a walk. Suddenly noticed him talking in the phone, directly under the morning sun rays.

A sun pillar is a vertical shaft of light extending upward or downward from the sun. Typically seen during sunrise or sunset, sun pillars form when sunlight reflects off the surfaces of falling ice crystals associated with thin, high-level clouds (like cirrostratus clouds).
The hexagonal plate-like ice crystals fall with a horizontal orientation, gently rocking from side to side as they fall.
When the sun is low on the horizon, an area of brightness appears in the sky above (or below) the sun as sunlight is reflected off the surfaces of these tipped ice crystals.
We took a tour around Sun Moon Lake, visiting a Daoist temple, a buddhist temple, and the Ci En Pagoda.

Sun Voyager (Icelandic: Sólfar) is sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason (1931 - 1989). Sun Voyager is a dreamboat, an ode to the sun. Intrinsically, it contains within itself the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom. The sculpture is located by Sæbraut, by the sea in the centre of Reykjavík, Iceland.
