I remember reading once, a chap, who I believe was from the far east said "Whenever westerners don't understand something, they call it Zen."
I don't understand anything about Zen but I imagine it to represent something like this. A simple image, yet appealing and thought provoking, and one that makes you want to look further into it than the initial impression is insufficiently able to satisfy.
This was taken whilst sitting in an hide at Minsmere reserve with nothing much happening birdwise. My mind tends to wander, and I look at the mundane in a different light - and this is a result....
I find it more appealing viewed full size - that seems to emphasise the subtle attraction.....
One good thing about the desert, it does have some amazing sunsets!!

We were heading to the beach to capture the late afternoon sun and then sunset and as we were driving the sun was hitting the city buildings beautifully!! :))

Photographed from from my driveway. Smoke from the many wildfires has been hanging over the Yakima Valley off and on, mostly on, for the past week or so causing the sun to be brilliant orange just before sundown. IMG_8165
Over London the Sahara sand whipped up by recent storms turned the sun orange and the afternoon really dark.

As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations the Humber Bridge was adorned with a Union flag on the top of each tower. However there wasn’t much wind to make them billow and in any case they weren’t that big to make them stand out, and don’t show on this image. Nonetheless a pleasant sunset which provided a double sun star.
The sun drops down behind trees at the Magpie Mine, near Sheldon, Peak District, Derbyshire, England.
Just before the moment of sunrise the sky was saturated with red colours around the place where the sun was coming up. I was looking for fishing poles and found several spots along the dike with the Gouwzee and the Markermeer between the city of Monnickendam and the village of Durgerdam. This one is at the beginning of the dike to the island Marken, 2018.
It looked like the poles were dancing in the water, but by the long exposure this dance was frozen.
