This sun halo formed this morning, February 11, 2015 in Monroe County, PA. Temperature was 12F and there was a light blowing snow in the air. Photographed using my iPhone 5S.
An otherwise ordinary sunset, except that the sun never set. This shot was taken at midnight at sea above Honningsvag, Norway, near Northkapp, the northernmost point on the European continent. We were above the 71st parallel, well north of the Arctic Circle. Although the sun never did set, it did hide behind clouds and made intermittent appearances. We even had one good snowstorm while in port. The locals like to say they have 9 months of winter and 3 months of sub-optimal skiing conditions.
I'm back now for a while and am hoping to slowly start to catch up. We'll be taking off again in a few weeks.

22nd October 2014 would have been my father's 66th birthday. He would have loved this.
I think the little splodge of sunshine through cloud at the top is him smiling down.

Touch me
How can it be. Believe me.
Hold me Close to your heart. Touch me
And give all your love to me
To me . . .
touch the sun
touch the moment
touch your dreams
but what you can hold
of the sun
of the moment
of your dreams
you should not keep
strew them back
set them free
give them wings
let them reach
the hearts of many
they will be blind
who will fail
to see the gold
in the sun
in the moment
in the dreams

This post was inspired by DREAMER an image from GIL (belyer72), one of my dear friends here in Flickr. Thank you for the inspiration, Gil.
HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY, EVERYONE! AND HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS, TO MY MOTHER WHO I KNOW IS WATCHING OVER ME FROM ABOVE, AND TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE NURTURED ME, IN BIG WAYS AND SMALL, INTO WHAT I AM TODAY!
It's been awhile since I pulled out the Nikon D70s and the "nifty fifty" lens (Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D AF). So armed with the D70s, I decided to find the wine goblet again this morning (it's only water in the goblet, but its 5 o'clock somewhere!), as I watched the sun rise this morning. Hope everyone has had a great week, and I wish you all a wonderful weekend! CHEERS! This photograph is available as a limited edition poster of 500. Should you be interested, flickr-mail me and I'll send you a link on where to purchase a poster.
Oh yeah, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN, Everyone!

Added Feb 18, 2011... Thanks to those at Spiritualteachers.org who also think it okay to copy the picture to imageshack and then post it on their blogs!. But do have to say that at least one poster did provide a link back to that one person's credit, before one of their "senior" members decided to put it on imageshack and post it on their blogs.
Appartently they can't read the disclaimer below, and have no spirituality and definitely NOT teachers, by stealing! Does it really hurt to ask to use a photograph??

Added 2/19/2014: Yet another blog site that apparently cant read the disclaimer below:

Do I really need to put my disclaimer below in flashing, neon, text!???!?
Is it really that hard to ask, or give credit where credit is due!
Apparently so!
