Kashmir Great Lakes Trek,
Kashmir, India || Day 3
The Great Lakes Trek commercially known as Sonamarg-Vishansar-Naranag Trek is an alpine Himalayan high-altitude trek in the Kashmir Valley in the Indian administered Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The trek is usually completed in 6-7 days and is rated as moderate-difficult in terms of terrain and trail difficulty. The trek is an absolute treat and worth every effort as one gets to see new alpine lakes, mountain peaks, passes, meadows and glaciers almost every subsequent day. - Wiki

Just spent 2 full weeks in ICU @ hospital. Honestly, I was still not feeling the best... but I have this passion for lightning.
This storm was about 50 miles away tracking from Grand Island Nebraska down to the south near Hastings Nebraska. From my POV it was almost due west of my location. My better half... & I had a busy day and I was glad to be home after that little jaunt. Long day means early to bed. Though she hit the sack and I stayed up to check up on my storm chasing duties and what I had missed over the past 2 weeks...
All of my gear was charged and ready to go.. but I was under strict orders not to go out... but I did anyway. lol I had to sneak out to do so.
I just went out to one of my places I know for good open skies and took a few snaps with my new camera and lens. They didn't turn out the best due to I wasn't use to this new setup. Though not bad for not knowing the gear and of course I wasn't supposed to be out.
It all turned out good. I didn't get into trouble after I told her. Pics came out well for what I went through to get them here!

Mulkarkha Lake is a natural lake tucked in a remote corner of the forests of the Himalayan foothills of Northern Bengal, India. The most fascinating feature of this lake is the reflection of Mt. Kanchenjungha (the 3rd highest peak in the world) on its tranquil waters. The trek route to Mulkarkha Lake is one of the most exciting and untouched trails of the Himalayan foothills.

End of Year 2023....
This pic was taken early morning on October 3rd 2023. Opened my Garage Door to this... Supercell right over the house. This would turn out to be another awesome chase day... would catch a nasty bugger west of Elm Creek Nebraska later that afternoon... 3 new sets of images & video coming soon in 2024
I wouldn't be the Storm Chaser you all want me to be with out Flickr. Way back in 2007 when I joined Flickr I had no clue over 16 years ago how much it would influence who what when where & how I do things now in 2023 going into 2024.
If you follow my adventures here.. please come & follow my group adventures here on Flickr. Now over 150 Active Groups Curated a few times weekly. It All Starts & my HQ here on Flickr with over 39,000 Active Members... Clouds Storms Sunsets & Sunrises . One of the Best Groups on Flickr for these Subjects of Photography & Videography.
I'm fortunate enough to live in / on one the best places on Planet Earth for Supercells & just plain ole nasty Thunderstorms. Most of the comments I get on social media... Most people think that I'm just NUTS for doing what I do. I chase storms.
Believe it or not. I was afraid of storms when I was a child. Freaked me out to the point where I would get paralyzed when there were strong bolts land close to the house. The sonic boom of thunder would take me over the top....
Eventually I was able to overcome that fear. Now I crave severe weather. I don't know why either. I'm driven to do so by some other force. To grab my gear & go in the direction that most would not.
My 36 year Adventure turns to My 37 Year Adventure in Photography & Videography in 2024.
Now I currently have over 5000+ Images yet to go though . Late storm season & all the factors of life have put me way behind on publishing videos & photography from all the severe weather events.
October was a hoot & I have 3 more sets of outstanding imagery to share.

Mid October... 2023
Final Chase Day at hand for 2023....
Warm and with SPC Active warnings that afternoon of severe weather. Stayed in the South Central Nebraska Hwy 6 Neighborhood.
Some wicked good, or should I say fantastic views of the out waves of moisture to mix in with spookiness of October. Late season supercells along the dryline were forming & I had to get underneath! You know for the view that are contained within! Oh I got my share that day.
Not to spoil the fun... No Tornado that day.. or at least I didn't see it. Came over the 2 way that the was one on the ground exactly where my cameras was pointed... however bad positing on my part. If it was there I didn't physically see it. It doesn't mean it wasn't there...
The active warning for the Tornado didn't fire off on my alarm till I was already due east of Minden Nebraska. Didn't have the best plan for attack here. I knew it was coming but where I deiced to park wasn't the best viewing position. When that alarm goes off & didn't have the best road network to navigate though the city or around the city of Minden. So I decide to stay put since it was already heading my way.
Sometimes this is a good decision, that day it wasn't. I had played this day out a little to shy & got caught with just an outflow dominate storm that afternoon after the Tornado Warning.
It was a Fun way to end the 2023 Chase Season... Can't Wait for 2024!

The Warwan Valley is a Himalayan sub-valley and a tehsil in Kishtwar District in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India. The Valley lies 68 kilometres northeast of Kishtwar and 150 kilometres from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
The valley remains cut off for about six or seven months every year due to heavy snowfall and is only accessible for the remaining months through the Margan Pass (3700 m)

Not many chase days in the month of June 2017, as this day turned out way better than expected. You never know what you might encounter on a decent moderate risk day which was mostly on the eastern side of Nebraska and Western Iowa.
These first cells were moving from the north to the south as I encountered them just to the east of Schuyler Nebraska. I didn't have to to travel to western Iowa as all the action stayed in eastern Nebraska that day. It was mostly an HP mess for most of the ride till then.
Some decent structure out in front of this cell, so you know I what I was doing!

We had to pack up and move south via Hwy 283 South then Head due east of Hwy 89. This route takes us though Beaver City, Orleans, and eventually just north of Alma Nebraska.
Now just west of Orleans Nebraska. Meso on this storm was getting well defined. Definite rotation and we were under it. Pulled ahead of the storm about 5 to 6 miles to get this next set of jaw dropping images.

2017 Storm Season in south central Nebraska really hasn't been. Until this storm.
I wasn't feeling that good that afternoon. Had a touch of the crud, and energy level was way down. I honestly had no plans to chase storms that afternoon.
The storms that afternoon were moving the from east to the west. (This is RARE in Nebraska) As these storms had been brewing and raging most of the afternoon in north central Nebraska. Most of these had died and parts had reformed or backbuilded throughout late afternoon. Seen that a few of my other chaser friends from StormViewLive.com were out and streaming and these developing cells. I simply couldn't miss this....The rest is history....
Just off of I-80 west on to Thirty Mile Canal (Road 755) west to Junction 21 south to Ustis Nebraska. I pulled off a for a few moments to get my bearings on this storm. Perfect photo opp as this storm had warnings pop up mins before this capture.
I didn't have much time. I had to get ahead, or at along side of it. Just a few snaps before I headed south.
It simply was the best structured photographic beauty that I wait for each year. It is, in my own personal opinion, this set of images are my Best Captures of 2017.

Nubra, is a tri-armed valley located to the north east of Ladakh valley. Like the rest of the Tibetan Plateau, Nubra is a high altitude cold desert with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds. Between Hundar and Diskit, the two major settlements in the valley, lie several kilometres of sand dunes, and (two-humped) bactrian camels graze in the neighbouring "forests" of seabuckthorn.

On the hunt for Severe Weather after about a month off of chasing. Though, always prepared and ready to go on another storm chasing adventure, once the storm models look favorable I was off to Eastern Colorado!
Tornado warning had just come over about 4:20pm MDT and we were just about to intercept. We were 4 mins late to see the tornado but we did get right under the base off the storm that produced it. Strong winds and hail accompanied this as we got to the south of this rotating supercell. Up close and personal!

The KRL 204040, a 20 Axle KRL Depressed Center flat car special moves west on the UP Kansas Sub on 12/29/2024. This is just one of three cars in this class (204040-204042), and it was running behind the UP 5442 as the SSLEC 26.
This was my first encounter with it, between Perry and Grantville. If you check the video, you'll see that on main 2, there's an eastbound stack train from California awaiting the arrival of the special, as everything it met had to be stopped.

We had packed up and parted ways that evening. It would be about another 2 hours before the storm to the south would be in the area we chose for that afternoon. We were not set up for night chasing that day and so we called it a night.
These storms were dying on the way north as we tagged along side. Nice rays with cloudbase to end this day's chase!

Watch the white nuckle Video of that afternoon on Flickr
An Epic Chase Day was upon us. Though the rest of the Nation was celebrating the Holiday. National Weather Service had us pegged for a moderate risk that afternoon & evening. Due to my injures to my back the past few months. Chasing Storms has been on the back burner... Until Now!!!
First cells of the day were in North Central Kansas. The boundary line was from North Central Kansas up to Norfolk Nebraska & a bit further north. All the action that day was going to be the east of Hastings Nebraska & South. Planned it out correctly for time & distance.
We encountered this incredible updraft structure on the back side of this storm as we were passing though Hastings Nebraska. Were were trying to catch up to it Via Hwy 6 & we eventually we did just to the east to Sutton Nebraska.
This storm was producing 2" hail so we held off a few mins to the the west of Sutton. We had perfect view of the wall cloud due southwest of the hail core. Had a nice tail but never formed.
Proceeded south to get south of revved up supercell. We got along side of it via Hwy 81 south of Geneva Nebraska. Few miles south of Strang Nebraska we got ahead of the rain core & got in sight (paralleled to this storm) of this incredible developing wall cloud under the base of this storm. It did not produce a tornado but the views from this supercell were down right spectacular.
We had to reposition ourselves a few miles south of Bruning Nebraska as this Supercell move south southeast.
The video & images I caught that afternoon were worth the trip. Phenomenal Storm Captures out on the plains of South Central Nebraska on the 4th of July.
Made it home to light of some fireworks & delicious bbq. Nice end to this day with family & friends after this Epic Storm Chasing Day!

First things first, subscribe to Jerdfigs.
This figure was only made due to the severe inspiration boost from witnessing Jared's fantastic Two Face that he also made. With his permission, I am posting mine before his, but I plea that you please go give Jared's the love it deserves once it is posted.
This is actually the second attempt at this head for this Telltale version. My first version of this head, I didn't carve out enough of the head, so the burnt side stuck out to far. If I am correct, I believe I am one of the first, if not the first, person to carve out the side of the head, and then sculpt the burnt face in the crevice of the carved out head with Green Stuff. I did this back on my own version of Two Face from my Batman Villains Series. I have done the same thing for this Two Face, only taking in some hints from Jared's sculpt. Unlike my old one, he left more room in the mouth, so more detail could be painted, like the teeth and gums. My old one did not have enough room to add these details. With this sculpt, I was able to paint in the gums, and add more prominent teeth.
The actual paint scheme of the burnt side is directly from the game, with a dark brown shade around the eye, and charcoal areas around the face.
The base head itself was a standard Clone/ Storm Trooper head.
The hair is a direct copy from Jared's, and is a modded Dr. Who hairpiece. It was cut up, and some sculpt was added to fill in some more hair on the normal side.
The suit is sand blue, and every single thing on the body was painted by me. The cuffs around the wrist are e-tape. Funny enough, Jared copied the legs of mine for his figure, so we both took liberties with each others figures.
The gun is brickarms, and matches the gun he had in the game at one point.
The coin is cut from a Lego bar.
What do you think?

Early August 2023...
Storms were predicted & delivered right after midnight. Severe Warned for high winds & hail... This was a sculptured outflow dominate storm. I learned a long time ago doing night storm photography that you have some extra light to make this happen. Not the light from the storm but I use the city lights to help paint the sky.
Sitting now on the so called edge of the city (always expanding). One the few last places I can get good clear view of the sky to the west without power-lines... Probably the last year I can take snaps from this location since there is construction going on all around.
I forgot one of my nice 4k cams with extra sensitivity for night... Figures I had everything ready but forgot to load the battery. Cam in hand I went to town with this set of images with this most impressive ominous overnight shelf cloud. This was an Night Time Eye Candy Storm. What a beauty!

Não tenho a pretensão de que todas as pessoas que gosto, gostem de mim. Nem que eu faça a falta que elas me fazem.
O importante pra mim é saber que eu em algum momento fui insubstituível.
E que esse momento será inesquecível.
I have not the pretension that all people that i like, like me. I that they miss me as I miss them.
The important for me is that I know that in one moment of their lifes, I was irreplaceable.
And that moment has been unforgettable.

Pangong Tso, Tibetan for "high grassland lake", also referred to as Pangong Lake, is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). It is 134 km (83 mi) long and extends from India to China. Approximately 40% of the length of the lake lies in India. The lake is 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its broadest point. During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water.
Pangong Tso can be reached in a five-hour drive from Leh, most of it on a rough and dramatic mountain road. The road crosses the villages of Shey and Sakti and traverses the Chang La, where army sentries and a small teahouse greet visitors. The road down from Chang La leads through Tangste and other smaller villages, crossing a river called Pagal Naala or "The Crazy Stream". The spectacular lakeside is open during the tourist season, from May to September.

Leh is a Himalayan high-desert city in the Leh district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir at an altitude of over 3500 m above sea level.
It was the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh, the seat of which was in the Leh Palace, the former mansion of the royal family of Ladakh, built in the same style and about the same time as the Potala Palace in Tibet - the chief residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th Dalai Lama fled to Dharamshala, India, during the 1959 Tibetan uprising.
Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and breathtaking natural beauty.

A vast, turbulent sky dominates the scene with dark, swirling clouds suggesting an approaching storm. Below, a long, dirt road stretches into the distance, bordered by fields of lush green grass, creating a stark contrast with the ominous sky above.

Taken just days after I had smashed my Nikon D50. Strong Gust front took out best camera. Another night storm with outflow came a calling. Even with a sand bag attached to the tripod it still blew it straight over. I was only about a foot away but the wind when the storm hit was nasty bad and I wasn't able to make a saving grab.
So this set of images were taken with 5mp LG phone that I simply hated. I had no other means of taking pics. Weird how this set of images would become one of my most viewed here on Flickr.
Now for the rest of the story....
Seriously, I wasn't even going to chase that afternoon. I was bummed out about my camera and lens. Now in a few unfix able pieces. My daughter Alyssa & I were heading over to good friends to BBQ, and have some Fresh Nebraska Sweet Corn & other yummies...
Just leaving my pad, we had looked out to the Northwest, and my jaw about dropped. It was still 20+ Miles away, I just knew she was coming our way... due to radar and warnings out for western counties... but the outskirts of city limits the clouds told the tale... She was going to be a photographic beauty.
My Daughter was hungry for the BBQ but she also wanted to see this storm up close and personal. I gave her a choice... BBQ or Storm.....she wanted to see the storm and we were off to our storm adventure! It was one of the best photographic shelf clouds of 2011! Glad we were there to capture this!
