Review of the book that I subscribe to. I liked the stories, but it is the speech to the graduates that deserves the purchase of the book. Good reading!
Often heard before they are seen, Woodhouse’s Scrub-jays (Aphelocoma woodhouseii) are easily observed throughout West and central Texas. Until a few years ago, we called these pretty blue birds’ Western scrub-jays or just plain Scrub-jays. But in 2016, scientists split that species into two with new names: California scrub-jay and the Woodhouse’s scrub-jay. The bird's rounded, crestless head immediately sets it apart from Blue Jays and Steller’s Jays. These birds are a fixture of dry shrub lands, and woodlands of pinyon pine and juniper found in the Texas Hill Country and West Texas. One interesting fact I found about the scrub-jay is that they appear to have “funerals” in reaction to finding a dead jay. They will screech over the body, attracting other jays, for as long as 30 minutes and stay near the body for a day or two. This Woodhouse's Scrub-jay perches on a small tree limb in Fredericksburg, a small town in the Texas Hill Country.

Nubra, is a tri-armed valley located to the north east of Ladakh valley. Like the rest of the Tibetan Plateau, Nubra is a high altitude cold desert with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds. Between Hundar and Diskit, the two major settlements in the valley, lie several kilometres of sand dunes, and (two-humped) bactrian camels graze in the neighbouring "forests" of seabuckthorn.

The Warwan Valley is a Himalayan sub-valley and a tehsil in Kishtwar District in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India. The Valley lies 68 kilometres northeast of Kishtwar and 150 kilometres from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
The valley remains cut off for about six or seven months every year due to heavy snowfall and is only accessible for the remaining months through the Margan Pass (3700 m)

During an extended five month cross-country overlanding photography adventure, I camped for a night in Oregon near the Idaho border. This is public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The day time temperature was in the low 90s and the overnight low temperature was 65 in early July.
Per Wikipedia, "The Owyhee Mountains are a mountain range in Owyhee County, Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon. Mahogany Mountain and the associated volcanic craters of the Lake Owyhee volcanic field are in the Owyhee Mountains of Oregon just east of the Owyhee Reservoir on the Owyhee River."

Over a month off from any type of photography or videography. I did go out a few times though my wife was super strict after I got out of the Hospital. I sure didn't want to go back... I had to sneak out... shhhh don't tell her. I'll post a few of those later... there's not many...
Now my body was on the mend, believe me when I say I was super sick. I was. The 2018 storm season was almost over... We have this little window of opportunity the last week of August till the end of September where we have that peak of severe weather. Just the opposite of spring.
I was not allowed to chase but this was close and I got some incredible snaps!!!

First things first, subscribe to Jerdfigs.
This figure was only made due to the severe inspiration boost from witnessing Jared's fantastic Two Face that he also made. With his permission, I am posting mine before his, but I plea that you please go give Jared's the love it deserves once it is posted.
This is actually the second attempt at this head for this Telltale version. My first version of this head, I didn't carve out enough of the head, so the burnt side stuck out to far. If I am correct, I believe I am one of the first, if not the first, person to carve out the side of the head, and then sculpt the burnt face in the crevice of the carved out head with Green Stuff. I did this back on my own version of Two Face from my Batman Villains Series. I have done the same thing for this Two Face, only taking in some hints from Jared's sculpt. Unlike my old one, he left more room in the mouth, so more detail could be painted, like the teeth and gums. My old one did not have enough room to add these details. With this sculpt, I was able to paint in the gums, and add more prominent teeth.
The actual paint scheme of the burnt side is directly from the game, with a dark brown shade around the eye, and charcoal areas around the face.
The base head itself was a standard Clone/ Storm Trooper head.
The hair is a direct copy from Jared's, and is a modded Dr. Who hairpiece. It was cut up, and some sculpt was added to fill in some more hair on the normal side.
The suit is sand blue, and every single thing on the body was painted by me. The cuffs around the wrist are e-tape. Funny enough, Jared copied the legs of mine for his figure, so we both took liberties with each others figures.
The gun is brickarms, and matches the gun he had in the game at one point.
The coin is cut from a Lego bar.

Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and breathtaking natural beauty.

Pangong Tso, Tibetan for "high grassland lake", also referred to as Pangong Lake, is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). It is 134 km (83 mi) long and extends from India to China. Approximately 40% of the length of the lake lies in India. The lake is 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its broadest point. During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water.
Pangong Tso can be reached in a five-hour drive from Leh, most of it on a rough and dramatic mountain road. The road crosses the villages of Shey and Sakti and traverses the Chang La, where army sentries and a small teahouse greet visitors. The road down from Chang La leads through Tangste and other smaller villages, crossing a river called Pagal Naala or "The Crazy Stream". The spectacular lakeside is open during the tourist season, from May to September.

The white wagtail is an insectivorous bird of open country, often near habitation and water. It prefers bare areas for feeding, where it can see and pursue its prey.
The most conspicuous habit of this species is a near-constant tail wagging, a trait that has given the species, and indeed the genus, its common name. In spite of the ubiquity of this behaviour, the reasons for it are poorly understood. It has been suggested that it may flush prey, or signal submissiveness to other wagtails. A study in 2004 has suggested instead that it is a signal of vigilance to potential predators.

South Central Nebraska, early May 2012. No chasing this day due to work late. Afternoon Storms were predicted that afternoon & evening. Slow movers they were to be.
Off work & I was in luck. The dryline had stalled right over south central Nebraska that afternoon & the explosion of billowing thunderheads erupted. Billowing picturesque Thunderheads. Some of the most photogenic cells I caught in 2012.
Wicked Photogenic Severe Storms developing just to my east and & another batch of developing severe storms right over my head & moving the northeast. What a afternoon of Light & Severe Storms... Click Click Click!!!!

Once a year a pull out a few sets from years past to start of the new year. In 2024 this year I have went back & revamped one of my favorite severe storms photo shoots of 2018
Back then I over colorized & over saturated the images. Pixelated & not my best work... Images were what I wanted but not the final product. If you want to see those to compare to these remastered images... here is your Flickr Link to that set of images...

About that evening...
An epic night of sunset light and storm light @ twilight. Its almost every storm chasers dreams... or at least, in my own opinion, to get along side of a storm like this, as its firing away some incredible CC & CG every few seconds. What more could you ask for...
I was that Lucky Guy that evening. Just mother nature and I. Close to home after a few long storm chasing jaunts is just fine by me. She was producing and I was capturing every incredible second of this storm.. No Forking Bolt went away that evening without me getting a snap of its presence..

in remembrance of Þorgerður Brák and her ill fate.
She had been the nanny and foster-mother to Egill the son of Skalla-Grímur and is described as big and strong as a man and skilled in magical arts.
One day in winter time when Egill was 11 years old Skalla-Grímur was playing a ball-game at Borg with Egill and his friend, Þórður Granason. At first the boys were winning but later on in the evening Skalla-Grímur got really strong and and grabbed Þórður and tossed him onto the ground with such force that Þórður died. He then went after his own son, Egill. Þorgerður Brák was watching the game and said: "Hamask þú nú, Skalla-Grímr, at syni þínum", yes, she said that ;) It roughly translated means if Skalla-Grímur is now going to attack his own son. Skalla-Grímur got so angry that he let loose Egill and tried to grab Þorgerður Brák, but she ran and he chased her down to the ocean where she jumped from a cliff into the ocean trying to reach the island outside of Borgarnes, now called Brákarey island. Skalla-Grímur threw a big rock at her with such great force that Þorgerður Brák didn't resurface. Since that time the strait where she drowned is called Brákarsund - Brákar strait.
