Let's step up our game and create an elegant hors d' oeuvre for friends tonight pairing them up with a great Pinot Noir......It's a lot of fun and you have to surprise your friends once in a while with something totally elegant, and totally unexpected! This is an Indian-inspired stuffed quail legs recipe which is incredibly flavorful like you would expect an Indian dish to be.

With what, I don't care to speculate on, but I think we can agree these are completely stuffed. Entertaining by Robert Carrier, 1977
I love the subtle taste of this variety of bell peppers, and they're great for roasting and grilling. I always get some if I see them at the farmer's market. The ones above are ready for the oven, stuffed with a tasty mixture of cooked millet, sauteed onions & garlic, herbs, tamari, pumpkin seeds, and tahini. I had a couple baby eggplants from the market too, so I stuffed them as well. Very tasty, especially the peppers!

Dec. 7, 2022: I found stuffed animals in trees this morning while walking in Pepper Tree Playground in Newbury Park, California. An anonymous area resident has left about 30 Christmas-related teddy bears in the Western loop of the park. Joggers and walkers report that the bears started arriving over the weekend. The bears also were present last December.
Boy, I could write an attention-getting headline, "Bears Spotted in Local Park."

We're here are kicking the year by visiting stars and stuff. Well, we are heading to the airport now so I grabbed a shot of the outside of our little base camp. Was a really nice place, great trip, and now we head back stateside. No stars in this shot so this goes under the "stuff" banner!

I take no credit for any of these. All were built from photos or instructions I found online.
Boil 2 potatoes and 1/2 cup mixed veg (peas+corn+carrots+runner beans). Peel the potatoes and chop roughly.
Wash two large green peppers (capsicum) and wipe completely dry with a kitchen towel. Cut out the stalks and remove the seeds. Retain the stalks. Heat 2 tbsp oil and fry the peppers in the oil on medium heat while turning over frequently. Remove from the oil.
To the same oil, add 1/2 Finely choped onion, 1" finely chopped ginger, 2 finely chopped green chillies, 1/4th tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp chili powder and stir. Fry until the onions are translucent. Add 1/2 cup pre-cooked shrimp and cook until the onions are golden brown.
Add the chopped boiled potato, mixed veg and 1tsp garam masala (curry powder) + 1/2 tsp dry mango powder (amchur / chaat masala) and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 min. Roughly mash the cooked vegetables.
Stuff the capsicums with the mashed veg and plug in the removed stalks. Cook in a pre-heated oven at 200 deg C for 20 minutes. Turn over 2-3 times.
