A Visit to Batemans the 17th Century Jacobean home of Rudyard Kipling was a must while we were on holiday last week, this is a photograph of Rudyards study. The rooms, described by him as 'untouched and unfaked', remain much as he left them, with oriental rugs and artefacts reflecting his strong association with the East. Bateman's is very much a family home and very impressive and well worth a visit.

Study Tip: Look for better solutions to problems

For example, if you don't understand the course material, don't just re-read it.

Try something else! Consult with the professor, a tutor, an academic advisor, a classmate, a study group, or your school's study skills center. #study #studytip

I am so busy with uni right now - I have 3 things due this month and 2 near the start of next month. I'm hanging with my sis and some of her friends tomorrow night, I'm going away next weekend (to hang out with friends and hopefully take a ton of photos) and near the start of April I've got my Wellington trip! I'm trying my best to stay organised and on top of things and I think I'm going to be okay. I'm just looking forward to that light at the end of the tunnel though =)

I bought a Sony RX100m7 last Christmas and haven't used it very much, so this was the perfect time to try it out\\1

I did this in oils as it had a more subtle and calm feel to it than the other Freud piece. The colours are more neutral and the shapes the colours and brush marks create on the face add intricate detail that is beautiful. Such a normal image of a person sleeping has been distorted and made to look unnatural to an extent because of the colour used and marks made.

These stunning photos are from the painted hills of the Sutton Mountain Wilderness Study Area in central Oregon – all captured by Bob Wick, BLM.

The study area, as described by the photographer, who visited in June of 2016 (edited for brevity, clarity):

"It is one of those BLM gems that almost no-one outside the local area has heard about. The lower part of the WSA has exposures of the same clay formations that are found in the much smaller but equally spectacular John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Painted Hills Unit, which lies just across the valley.

"The upper peak of Sutton Mountain itself rises 2,000 feet above the valley with layers of ash and basalt building to the crest. The area is near the John Day River about an hour northeast of Prineville."

BMW Art Car #03

24 Hrs du mans 1977

"I wanted the lines I painted to be a depiction the road showing the car where to go," said Roy Lichtenstein commenting on his design of the BMW 320i. "The design also shows the countryside through which the car has travelled. One could call it an enumeration of everything a car experiences – only that this car reflects all of these things before actually having been on a road." And indeed – if one looks closer, one can perceive a passing landscape. The oversized "Benday Dots" are characteristic and reminiscent of Lichtenstein‟s world famous paintings of comic strips.

Roy Lichtenstein, who was born in New York in 1923, is considered to be one of the founders of American pop art. Until 1938 he painted portraits of jazz musicians, attended the "Art Students League", finally studying art in Ohio. His earlier works range from cubism to expressionism. He did not become interested in trivial culture such as comics and advertising until the late fifties. His pop art paintings were created in 1961. These were followed by caricatures of the "American way of life", experiments with well-known works of art, sculptures and films. He died in New York in 1997.

After its completion, Roy Lichtenstein‟s Art Car was able to celebrate its premiere twice – as a work of art at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and as a racing car in the 24-hour race at Le Mans in June 1977. The car was driven by Hervé Poulain and Marcel Mignot from France. The car with the number 50 achieved a ninth place in the overall rating and finished first in its class.
