It's been a fair few years since this "cyclotouriste" has owned or regularly ridden skinny tired, fenderless "race" bikes but, the Urago gives a fast, responsive yet comfortable ride. It has been the go-to machine for day rides for much of the summer...
Quick value study sketch. I think this may become one of my next watercolors. This was a bright, sunny day and the shapes of these barns creates a scene that caught my eye immediately.
Hopefully coming soon . . .
Classical by inspiration, but in fact some kitsch decorating a cheap restaurant. And 'study' implies some preparation, arrangement - this was a momentous snap of detail that caught my eye. But BW makes everything look 'classic', doesn't it? :)

This is another picture shot in the new workshop of my friend Durga in Varanasi (Benaras).
Those studies in progress pinned on a wall are part of a new topic about hijras, those members of "the third gender", neither man nor woman.
Durga Charan Das is a young painter living in the "City of Lights", he is painting amazing bodies making love or sometimes alone but always with sensuality and strength, with something special that reminds a lot of Eugene Delacroix's work...
Durga has already won several prestigious awards in India and now exhibitions of his work are starting in Europe.
For more explanations concerning hijras you may see those pictures
In a forgotten study, where dust and sunlight meet in a quiet dance, rests the memory of a man who never stood still.
His heart beat to the rhythm of the tides, and his thoughts carried sails.
Every instrument on his desk, a chapter, every scratch on the brass a decision. He didn’t just travel across seas, he traveled through spaces, through time, between worlds and maybe even a little farther.
Between knowledge and wonder, between calculation and dream.
The compass, once held in storm and starlit night, no longer points north it points to where longing lives.
And the ship in the painting? Maybe it still sails, who really knows for sure.
Maybe no longer through towering waves, and yet, still it sails through the stories, of those who gaze upon it.
