16 MAPP students traveled to St. Petersburg to work with a similar number of Russian students from St. Petersburg State University School of Architecture and Civil Engineering. They designed and presented a scheme for several blocks of St. Petersburg.

Students and faculty traveled to Ethiopia over spring break for a blend of cultural and academic experiences in the East African nation. There, they visited historic locations and met with high-level officials at the U.S. Embassy, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Oxfam, and the African Union.

On November 19, CCBO Peru held its first learning event, leveraging the launch event the previous day to bring together national representatives, local Mayors, USAID colleagues, and other local partners for a study tour of innovative, sustainable waste facilities. The one-day event was held in Lima, where participants visited examples of successful facilities that could be replicated in CCBO engagement sites, including a composting plant and an eco-park. In addition to the knowledge it built with participants, it also provided a one-of-a-kind networking event—namely local government officials who were able to come together, share ideas, and begin forming a relationship that will greatly benefit the clean cities, blue ocean movement.
