"A universal love is not only psychologically possible, it is the only complete and final way in which we are able to love"

-Pierre Teilhard de Chardin "The Phenomenon of Man" pp 266

“The unspoken or half-spoken message of the talk was our complete understanding of each other as people who were somehow on the edge of great realization and knew it and were trying . . . to go out and get lost in it—and that it was a grace for us to meet one another.”

-Thomas Merton, Asian Journal, pg. 143

Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles)

I had half an hour to spare, and with no roadworks blocking the way due to the public holiday, so I wandered down the the Woodville Oval/D 1 Drain Reserve. Not a lot of birds around but I enjoyed the walk in the sunshine.

Another shot from my afternoon at Gwithian beach testing out the Pentax K10d with it's 20 year old ccd sensor.

Paired with the equally ancient Tamron 18-250mm it's quite a competent combination.

Black-headed gull without black head tells us that winter is approaching

Do your thing honey

I had feelings from the start

Couldn't stand to be apart

Something about you caught my eye

Something moved me deep inside

Don't know what you did boy but

You had it and I've been hooked ever since

I told my mother, my brother, my sister and my friend

I told the others, my lovers, from past and present tense

Everytime I see you everything starts making sense

Do your thing honey

Ain't no other man, can stand up next to you

Ain't no other man on the planet does what you do

You're the kinda guy a girl finds in a blue moon

You got soul, you got class

You got style with your bad a-- oh yeah

Ain't no other man its true alright

Ain't no other man but you

Do your thang honey

Never thought I'd be alright

No, no, no

'Till you came and changed my life

Yeah, yeah, yeah

What was cloudy now is clear

Yeah, yeah

For the light that I needed

You got what I want boy, and I want it

So keep on givin' it up

Strolling through my archives I've found a lot of uneditid photos I did with my Leica D-Lux 2 - before I crashed it at Easter 2014, right in front of the Brandenburger Tor. Still mourning...

This is the first of a mini series in honour of this sweet little camera.

A group of musicals in Praia da Vitoria, Azores. Earlier we had been in a bar listening to these men and it was wonderfully entertaining. They certainly brought a smile to our faces 😀

As for the slide I just don’t know how it happened.

Three important things emerge in her story. One is obviously that here is somebody–as with Bulgakov–entering deeply into the mind and imagination of her own time. She was very near the heart of the philosophical revolution that was going on in German universities in the early twentieth century and, going right to the boundaries of what people were thinking and imagining, found herself almost irresistibly drawn over the edge. It’s as if, when you look deeply enough into politics (like Bulgakov) or philosophy (like Edith Stein), you’re at considerable risk of falling over this edge. Go far enough with the disciplines of this world in honesty and integrity, and God is waiting for you.
