LOL, Mia wasn't super impressed to be all dolled up for the photo shoot, but with all the kids in school, she is the only living breathing thing besides myself at home to test my new stobe today. And no, she doesn't usually wear clothes. :)

Strobe Multiple Lights - Side/Flat Lighting

One strobe for background light, head pointed on parque floor. main strobe with home made softbox on side top left. Photoshop-ed to make the black darker.

Tests with an ND4 filter on a Voigtlander 25mm lens as wide as it can go, some shots are with a legacy pivotable strobe (sunpak auto-25sr) and the others are using sunshine.

The ND4 filter darkens the light coming into the lens allowing a lot more bokeh than would normally be possible at these bright levels of light.

strobe light only... still dialing in settings. Sam is very tolerant of me as I figure out exactly what I'm doing.

I used a seamless white paper packground that runs 3 feet in front of her to 3 feet abover her.

I have to play with the lighting a bit and revisit this setup.

Then I'll do the same for on black.

Had a Photoshop class with Tim Buerger the other day. Worked on some of the photos I did in a previous strobe lesson in Minato Mirai, Yokohama. Now it feels like the lesson is complete... from the shooting to the post-production. I was never a huge fan of flashes and non-natural light but I really like the results of this class... time to practice! Model: Lilian

I wanted to try a strobe effect using a manual flash. Photoshop can definitely make a cleaner clone than this, but I love the creepy factor created by doing it with a flash.

This is my favorite image of my 13 yr old Grandson, Alex. I am glad he didn't get a haircut before this photo shoot, LOL

1 sb800 under subject 1/4 pwr. Lens on macro 125 at f8./ Hard to hold flash while camera on Macro. Very little PS
