30 second long exposure @ f3.5 used the modelling light function on the flash to allow camera to focus. set camera to 12sec self timer, fired timer, moved to one side, waited for mirror to raise, gave 5 second burst of strobe, then ten seconds wait then 5 seconds strobe... this is what happens. pretty cool!

Monday night, Reid Wolcott and I visted the Vantage Wind Farm.
This was lit manually with a SB-28 blasting at full power every time the blades came around.

On this four day trip down to the Jerry Williams Memorial Bridge, my strobe batteries wore down before the ends of the dives the first two days, so I started also carrying my next oldest camera and box sans strobes. That can work out sort of “OK” if the sun is out and yer not under a structure in the shade and the viz is good and you don’t have to crank the ISO way up and you don’t put an old kit lens on it and you don’t have to set it on “auto” and let the camera decide for you where to focus, but none of those was the case. So, I’ll just throw these two dives into one pile as a reminder for what can happen if I delay the purchase of replacement strobe battery packs too long. Turns out the new packs recycle even faster and hold *lots* more firings. Looks like I could even leave the modeling lights on and not run out of juice on a long dive with the new ones. Sadly, they also mean new chargers, as my old ones will burn up the new Lithium Ion versions. :-(
I did not have a trigger so this was taken with the flash on camera. I bounced the flash from a white ceiling and in some cases I used a gold diffuser.

Fired a strobe twice in 2 seconds with a two second long exposure.
The strobe light was to the top right of the model and a I had 4 foot circular reflector about 3 feet behind him on the left. He was a about 10 feet from a wall which wasn't being lit by the strobe. Between strobe fires the room was 100% black.
The only photoshop was adjusting the colors on the raw image and some sharpening, the overlay was achieved by the lighting.
