OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This was shot in the same day as the Cashew Snake, this is my attempt at something more 'stock' like, with a very simple composition and subject.

Shot with a Canon 40D + Sigma 24-70 EX f/2.8 and two strobes with shoot through umbrellas, key front left of camera and fill deep camera right.

7D+580EXII in wireless strobe mode

the knobs are from a cutting board!

added a stobe under the leaf for added effect

30 second long exposure @ f3.5 used the modelling light function on the flash to allow camera to focus. set camera to 12sec self timer, fired timer, moved to one side, waited for mirror to raise, gave 5 second burst of strobe, then ten seconds wait then 5 seconds strobe... this is what happens. pretty cool!

A red cloth and two strobes can allow one to experiment......and no it is not an alien.

Monday night, Reid Wolcott and I visted the Vantage Wind Farm.

This was lit manually with a SB-28 blasting at full power every time the blades came around.

Read all about it on my blog!

I did not have a trigger so this was taken with the flash on camera. I bounced the flash from a white ceiling and in some cases I used a gold diffuser.

collab with UWP up and about!

I can't decide whether I prefer the B/W or colour versions. What do you think?

Flash bounced from a silver umbrella situated around 10ft in front of Ruth L plus a flash bounced vertically off the ceiling, positioned about 5ft to the right of her.

Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens; tripod mounted etc. A small amount of post in Photoshop. My first use of a [cheap] reflective brolly.

NB: Appearance of skin tones will depend on the quality of your monitor.

Because I'm shooting Ruth L quite often now I've started a set, just for shots of her:
