noteynote: i ordered the XSi! im so exited!!!

This installation toys with concepts of light and space. Large glass domes are lit sporadically with a gentle strobe. This is erected in the same corridor as the pencil marks on the wall, which chart an uncompromising journey. The corridor connotes, for me, a personal space. An anonymous, yet shared space on which I feel urged to make an indelible mark. The light installation is more temporary, the light in the darkness existing as a metaphor for process, an illumination of clarity. the piece challenged me to consider form and shape, mirroring and symmetry. The symmetrical effect of the placing of the glass balls, the dark and the strobe, give an impression of parrellellism and infinity.

got some new on-camera flashes along with radio remotes so started playing with something I have thought looked cool, water drops. Although I know Michele will have different ideas on how to spend my time...

Playing with strobes =)

i caught the strobe at the right moment.

Bought a new strobe and was playing around with photographing smoke from a burning insense (sp?). Used the flash on the camera as the main and my new one as the slave. The strobe is below the smoke looking straight up. Had to take a gazillion shots to get a few that I liked. Thankful for digital cameras!!!

The other problem I was having was trying to find a clean background. It sucks not having a studio.

Used:

A clear bowl filled with water.

I put a white sheet of paper behind it for the flash to bounce off of to illuminate the bowl.

And a blueish paper under the bowl for color.

For dropping the water, I had a bag of water with a small hole in the corner of it.

To get it over the bowl of water, I balanced a tennis racket between a table and chair,

with the bag sitting on the "net" of the racket.
