I used a disco strobe light that my old DJ housemate left behind (excellent find!) when he moved out. I experimanted with different shutter speeds and different strobe speeds, and the editing is mostly to contrast to give more definition to the outline.
playing with a couple strobes, teaching a friend the basics. Light with 3/4 lighting from above camera light and a fill light low and slightly to the side, camera right at 2 stops less.
Lit with SB900 placed inside the reel and an SB600 hand held camera right. Triggered with SU800 commander. camera in manual, aperture f5, shutter 1/200.
It was a cold rainy day in the City, so I practiced inside with smoke and one flash. I used incense to generate the smoke.
Strobist info: 430 EX pointed directly at the smoke from the right side at 90 degrees. Home made barn doors on the left and right side of the flash. 430 EX 1/2 power.
Yesterday our neighbours invited us to a really nice party.
Since it is March and still the winter is present with some 20 cm of fresh snow somebody had the idea to bring a big basket of logs for the fireplace as a gift.
In the dim light the warm wooden tones looked so nice that i could not resist to take a photo.
My Nikon D80 combined with the unbeatable SB800 strobe did a really good job.

Tanay Rizal Philippines...
midnight, as i pass along Tanay Rizal, just grab a couple of bibingka and some balut... i was standing by along the port of infamous tanay light house with my sister.
tried to capture the distant light from the mountains of antipolo.. grabbed two of my flashgun, and then started shooting in very low light condition...

SB800 triggered by V4 in front of camera and directly in front of Karen, this is what gave the washed out look.

Johnny O has been my friend for 5 years going on 6. He visits our home every week to play guitar and chat.
Today he was surprised to learn I have cameras and strobes, so out of curiousity we went down and shot some pics for his mom and dad.
John goes through lots of moods when he plays...and I'm attempting to capture those while not forgetting to watch the lights, focus etc.
John is in his mid-30s but he will always be young of heart & mind. Some call it a handicap and he just sees it as life.
If you self strobe in the forest does anyone else see the flash?
On a bush walk I set myself up for a self portrait, as I was Noddy No mates that day!
The view below the overhanging cliff where I was perched was great.. reminds myself to take tripod next time!
