We discovered this trail last weekend at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. The surrounding woods are incredibly dense full of mosses and ferns. The place is almost like a mini rainforest with its own microclimates. I can't wait wait to explore that park again.
We visited the two neighbouring villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van in the Muong Hoa Valley. The rice terraces gently rise up the sides of the hills and mountains surrounding the villages.
Lao Chai is the home of the Black Hmong whilst Ta Van is the home of the Dzai. These are two of the many minority peoples in north Vietnam.
Some fun with filters on this one. A Watercolour filter has been applied along with various post production effects. The original shot was taken with a slower shutter speed to blur the cascading water.

Having seen this impressive Foden on a previous occasion as it passed through Cambridge but not able to photograph it, you can imagine how pleased I was to come across it in town once more……this time it was parked! Alas my pleasure immediately turned to frustration as I got out of the car iPhone in hand on the opposite side of the busy State Highway only to see the rig start to move off! The traffic and the limitations of the camera phone prevented a shot but then much to my surprise the lorry turned around at the roundabout and headed back towards me enabling the average shot that I present here, but a record nonetheless. Maybe I will see this Foden again in a better location on a sunny day!
