I suspect this is Castle Rock in Tucson's Catalina Mountains to the North. I hope someone can tell me for sure...

 

I think this shot is straight out of the iPhone 4S camera... SOOC.

 

Is this fabulous rock formation known as Castle Rock? I guess I should stop asking and just use Bing Images...;))

 

I took shots outside of the car. This one is throught the rainy windshield, resulting in lots of grain and texture...

  

The weather folk have been warning us about snow today for about a week. They were very accurate.

 

It was a wonderful drive filled with photo opsl!! We drove up into the mountains after my blood test at my primary care physician's office. The road up to Mount Lemmon was closed, but there is lots to see. Terra grew up in Tucson and she knows all the good views...;))

 

Unfortunately, I haven't been using a good camera. I just do what I can with my little iPhone 4S. Good thing I have a charger in the car.

This part of Oxley Creek is basically all sand. The big rain events of 2011 and 2013 must have wiped out much of the banks and the trees along with them.

Ephemeral desert streams are dry most of the time, but during the summer thunderstorm season they will see sudden flash floods. The mud in this streambed indicates that one such event occurred not too long ago.

A lot of the elementary schools have these fish on their fences. I think it is a craft project which is also used to teach the kids about the value of clean water to the other creatures in out world. The fish snaking along the fences look very cool.

Just looked it up: The mission of the Stream of Dreams Murals Society is to educate communities about the life and function of their watersheds, rivers and streams, while dazzling them with the charm of community art.
