Funny how things work out. I went out to supposedly catch some wide landscapes, but when I got there, there were too many trees obstructing the view.

But I found this little stream in the forest and it looked pretty neat.

Did some tonemapping on it to really bring out the colors, but other than that, this is pretty much what was there. Got the long exposure by using a 4-stop ND filter in front of the lens.

Have a great New Years everyone!

I wish I had remembered to take my tripod, I wanted to try doing the smooth water look, but you have to keep the camera very still to do them. If you look in large size you can see the photo is not that sharp. I tried sharpening it a touch in picnik, might try in PS later.

this is 1.6 seconds hand held.

A place my children loved to play!

A walk around Lawrence Field and coming up the clough from Grindleford on a fine sunny winter's afternoon sees the waterfall at the top of the ancient woodland.

No tripod, so the trusty beanie hat was deployed.

The Central Maine & Quebec's 210 job soars over Souadabscook Stream in Hampden, after a rather late start getting out of Northern Maine Junction. BNSF painted B23-7 2003 leads an ex-Patriot Rail GP38-3 and an ex-Santa Fe GP35u with 18 cars for Searsport. The foliage along the stream hasn't quite filled in yet, but it's still a huge improvement over the drab brown from a couple weeks ago.

Outside of Joseph, Or there are sevareal beautiful (and sometimes very steep) trails that take you up and out of the valley and into the “high country” where you will find gargantuan rock peaks, year round snow, and moutain streams/rivers. This scene came into my view as my family and I were hiking down from one such trail after shooting some family portraits up near a waterfall. I was immediately taken with the shape of the stream, the motion of the water, and the lush green landscape that Oregon is known for. Cheers and happy Thursday everyone!

I don't know if this little stream has a name but the Spence Ridge Trail runs beside it down to the Linville River.
