This storm formed southwest of Flagstaff, AZ and took on some decent but brief structure while moving eastward. This shot is taken facing southwest and shows a low-hanging shelf cloud forming as the storm gusts out.

So I went to take some pictures with a medium-format cam in the middle of the storm. almost died twice (seriously). but you gotta admit, the outcome.. it's worth it.

Getting lucky with the shutter. This was taken in last nights storm from my window. Only a quick crop applied to cut out a badly placed telephone cable in paint.net (I'm restricted to a netbook for editing). Your comments are welcome :)

It's a risk to walk along the beach in Lithuania...a bright and sunny day can turn into a dark thunderstorm in moments, This was taken just moments before a rain and thunder hit the Nida coast.
This was taken a few weeks ago, but I haven\'t really had time to go out and get anything. Plus, I forgot I had these. Sorry! I got a new and wonderful job at the base and I have been taking classes for it as well, so I\'ve been busy adjusting. I posted more about this on my blog. Hopefully I will get the balance between work and play figured out soon. I\'ll have a lot of opportunities for photography with the new job too I think. We are given a ton of volunteer opportunities with it. Also, check out the twitter link on the site now. I\'ve begun using twitpic.
Heavy rain and windy conditions whipped through Western Washington on Tuesday, October 13. The damaging windstorm caused widespread outages throughout our service area.
Our crews work around the clock to safely assess damage and restore outages caused by tree branches and limbs blown into the power lines by gusty winds. Our Emergency Coordination Center and all of our local storm bases were opened to coordinate our response efforts.
Damage is assessed on Bainbridge Island as cleanup and repairs begin.
Rainwater pours into a storm drainage canal at Terrain Accra camp in Port-au-Prince on Nov. 5, 2010. USAID, U.S. and UN military personnel visited the camp and reported that garbage clogged a culvert, leading to minor flooding on a road in the camp for people displaced by the Jan. 12 earthquake. Brazilian engineers responded to their reports and worked to unclog the culvert. Photo copyright Kendra Helmer/USAID

Our Daily Challenge ... sunset/sunrise.
It was a funny day - sunshine one minute and threatening to rain the next. I thought the clouds might block the sunset all together as the storm gathered. You can see rain on the left of the shot. About 1/2 an hour later it was raining heavily with lots of thunder and lightening. PS. It does look better on black!
