These are my two Dreadnoughts, part of the Storm Giants chapter, 4th company. One is from the AOBR kit, and the other is a regular kit model. I used magnets to swap out weapons on the kit model. The smoke launcher and searchlight are also held by magnets. I bought the "gravel" at a local hobby store (think railway section). The rusted girders on the ground are styrene parts available at hobby stores.
This was taken a few weeks ago, but I haven\'t really had time to go out and get anything. Plus, I forgot I had these. Sorry! I got a new and wonderful job at the base and I have been taking classes for it as well, so I\'ve been busy adjusting. I posted more about this on my blog. Hopefully I will get the balance between work and play figured out soon. I\'ll have a lot of opportunities for photography with the new job too I think. We are given a ton of volunteer opportunities with it. Also, check out the twitter link on the site now. I\'ve begun using twitpic.
Storm King! Amazing place! Go there. Now would be good but as they say in the brochure I think this place would be awe inspiring in any weather at any time of the year. I was blown away. Can't wait to go back. This is just the first batch of many. I filled up a card today, haven't done that in a while. We had fantastic weather with gorgeous clouds blowing all around and great light and the fall colors. Sat for a while and watched the shadows from the clouds zoom over the open fields and change the scene over and over.
Heavy rain and windy conditions whipped through Western Washington on Tuesday, October 13. The damaging windstorm caused widespread outages throughout our service area.
Our crews work around the clock to safely assess damage and restore outages caused by tree branches and limbs blown into the power lines by gusty winds. Our Emergency Coordination Center and all of our local storm bases were opened to coordinate our response efforts.
Damage is assessed on Bainbridge Island as cleanup and repairs begin.
Our Daily Challenge ... sunset/sunrise.
It was a funny day - sunshine one minute and threatening to rain the next. I thought the clouds might block the sunset all together as the storm gathered. You can see rain on the left of the shot. About 1/2 an hour later it was raining heavily with lots of thunder and lightening. PS. It does look better on black!

Even though we are in a drought in Baltimore County, this incredible storm crushed us last month. It was incredible. This is the front of it (moving right to left).
Thunderstorms rolling through north central Iowa late afternoon, with cloud formations that have serious intent! Just the color alone is not a good sign....
Looks like an episode of "Lord Of The Rings!"
A bottle of Storm from BrewDog in Fraserburgh, Scotland, at Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont in Washington DC.
Storm is an 8% abv India Pale Ale aged in Islay Scotch Whisky barrels. It poured a hazy amber orange color with a thin white head. Powerful smoked aroma, typical Islay from the barrel, with a nice malty sweetness and some hops. The flavor was surprisingly mild, primarily of smoke with a mild hop bitterness in the finish. Not much sweetness or hops, despite the rich aroma. I liked the aroma, but found the beer too thin - more malt and hops would have helped to give it some body.
The first storm chase of 2013 was pretty intense, some of the heaviest rain I've ever encounter and got to see a proto-tornado.
Returning from a long day at Drakelow Tunnels I went back part cross country between Newbury and Basingstoke. The passing rain storms brought out some stunning light on these foreground trees with the heavy rain lit up at the back covering dark cloud shadowed moody woodlands.
Railway Track captured from an overhead bridge (Mumtazabad, Multan, Pakistan), moments before a dust storm. (Sepia Tone Applied)
A fast moving storm moved through the area this afternoon. Strong wind gusts with lightning. The National Weather Service even issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and a Tornado Alert. Fortunately, the storm zipped through the area and was gone in about 30 minutes and when it left, it took all the hot air and humidity with it. It ended up being a gorgeous evening.
Yep...the storm that rolled over us yesterday let me down as these are about the most exciting thing I caught.
This is a quick 1 hour speedpainting of a couple of ships stuck in a storm. I've always wanted to paint one of these pictures, and I think this is a theme I'm likely to revisit as my skills improve. I painted it in the gimp with my wacom, punching the colour up a touch using my gmic filter "60s cinema fx" set to "Carey Grant."
