I awoke to the sun sparkling ice-covered trees yesterday and went out to take some shots behind my house. A note to Mother Nature: This isn't what I'm supposed to be shooting on April 11.

Another photo from yesterday. Was nice to be out with the camera again.

Final from the Point Lonsdale photo shoot with the Focus Group.

An infrared version of the previous shot in my photostream.

As soon as I saw the result, I realized that it reminded me of the storm sequence at the start of The Wizard of Oz......or perhaps the Grapes of Wrath as suggested by others.

If you have a moment, I hope you'll view this at the larger size linked below:

When storms are all over, where is your quite place?

Storm and Open Sky over the Swiss House Of Parliament in the the Capital City Bern, Switzerland.

Loved the spectacual weather today. The storm arrived, came over and left with spectaculair cloud formations.

Stopped at a byway near Chittern on the Salisbury Plains on my way home the other day. The light wasn't that brilliant but the sky was building nicely.

A few trees in the Woodlands came down in the recent storms - some with dramatic results.

Doncaster,

Rolling storms passing over Blayney in the Central West of NSW, Australia.

Beautiful storm cells moving in. Lightning lighting up the clouds about 45 minutes after the sun had set (the very light orange far left was all that was left from the sunset earlier). The stars are showing above the clouds in the upper left (may have to view larger to see them well).

From Bournemouth Pier looking towards Sandbanks and the Purbecks. Rough seas from Storm Desmond on an extremely blustery December day.

The white car appeared at the right moment....and in the right colour to contrast the rainstorm that was heading its way...with bells on.

Busy and very hot day. In the evening we retired to our beach hut at Tankerton where there was a lovely breeze and a stunning sunset. We stayed until 02.00am, laying on the grass, staring up at the meteor storm that is the Perseid's, about one every 8-to-10 minutes before driving home, windows down and music on, bliss.

Tonight its an evening trip to Oare Nature Reserve and the hunt for the Barn Owls and tomorrow we are dropping Phoebe off at Ashford Station and the rest of the day is ours!

Scafell from Wasdalehead, Lake District - 1st August 2005.

Time to raid the archives again ...

What I wrote back then:

"We arrived back at Wasdalehead in time to catch the last of the warm summer light, before the sun disappeared behind the surrounding hills and suddenly plunged the valley bottom into cool shadow. The four girls were sitting in their tent, chattering happily about the things we had done and seen. They were so at ease in each other's company that you would have thought they were sisters, rather than pairs of cousins who only saw each other a couple of times each year.

"Laura came over to me and said quietly 'Have you seen the hill up there Uncle Mike?'

I turned to see Scafell* covered in dark cloud, but with a patch of brilliant sunlight racing up its shoulder.

"Grabbing my camera, we both ran to get a clearer view, just in time to see the sun light up one of the lower crags. I snatched a photo as the light disappeared, hoping that I had caught the moment.

"The perfect end to a perfect day".

This rain storm hit me about 1 minute after I took this picture. Photo was taken with a Canon 17-40mm @17mm.

Just felt like a picture. Liked the looks we had going on. So I messed around. xD We all smoke too much!

One warm, one cool.

A storm fast approaching. I was able to avoid it before coming back to my hotel, but the next couple of days were rough.

Driving home from South Shropshire last night, I followed a full-on electrical storm and encountered several flash floods. I knew a couple of freight were due to pass, so pulled off the A49 at Condover for a couple of shots.
