..and that was just the beginning

I spent about a week cycling around the Faroe Islands. As I rode along the way to Saksun, I was suddenly struck by a terrible blizzard. When it finally opened up again, the whole valley showed itself in all its glory.

Looking south at a powerful electric storm rumbling across the prairies. We've had so much rain lately that the grass is turning an odd neon green. The crops are going to take off when the sun finally graces us with her warmth!

Submission for Scavenger Hunt 101 - #87 An interesting sky.

I threw this out of my last "Storm" batch due to alignment issues that required more time.

This is three exposures blended with two tone-mapped HDR images (one soft tone mapping, and one harsh tone mapping). This combination seemed to work the best. Comments?

Finally getting around to posting these photos from May 26-27 2018 chase after heading up north a bit late to chase some storms that were about 65 thousand feet near Hannibal, Missouri. The first three photos of clouds are up north. I took my friend Lucas with me who loves the weather but just doesn't get out much because of school and other reasons. So my favorite picture from Hannibal was the updraft with lightning under it and if you look close you can see the moon next to it.

After getting back to Lucas house at 10 pm I looking up in the sky to see what it looks to be rising tower with some very active lightning in it. So after hanging out with him a bit longer helping him with his GoPro I heading out to Fenton to shoot some lightning. Most of the time I would find an open field and shoot lightning but around the St. Louis area its hard to find that. So I shot lightning over Fenton, MO and yes there's some light pollution but I bought a new filter that's suppose to dim down light pollution. Let me tell you how much it works and I love it. It also stops lights being so bright in my shot and drowning my lightning out.

The neat thing about the lightning storm that it stayed isolated and could see for miles. When I was at Lucas house it was about 100 miles away. I love weather and how incredible it can be.

Saturday 22nd October 2016

A sandy trail winds through the Australian bush, set against a dramatic backdrop of a deep blue, stormy sky. The twisted, weathered eucalyptus trees frame the path, while dense green shrubbery thrives on either side, evoking the raw and untamed beauty of the landscape. The dark, moody clouds contrast sharply with the bright sand, hinting at an impending storm and lending an intense and almost surreal atmosphere to the scene. Bring it on!

Another photo from yesterday. Was nice to be out with the camera again.

An infrared version of the previous shot in my photostream.

As soon as I saw the result, I realized that it reminded me of the storm sequence at the start of The Wizard of Oz......or perhaps the Grapes of Wrath as suggested by others.

Thunder storms, sudden, violent, and short are characteristic of summer, at least around here.
