On Sept 5th, my beautiful granddaughter's birthday, we traveled to Tybee Island and walked amongst the gulls and rolling waves. About an hour into our fun, a sudden storm rolled in cutting short our trip and had us running back to the safety of our car.
There's nothing better than the laugh of a grandchild…the joy of seeing her stretch out her hand to capture mine, and letting her guide me where her mind wants us to go. This is only my 2nd grandparent's day and after a 16 hour trip yesterday back home, I find myself teary eyed and emotional thinking of this fairylike child who claims my heart.
Happy grandparent's day to those of us who know this privilege.

The Owens Valley California is right on the edge of all the rain Northern California is getting making for some spectacular Lenticular clouds.
(*Possibly Weedstalk'r) at the Storm Detention Pond, near the west entrance to Thomson Marsh, Kelowna, BC.
Taken after a whirlwind, one-day, one-night trip to Owens Lake for some research, so it wasn't really a photo trip per se.
For whatever reason, I was pathologically underexposing on this trip, and this is one of the few exposures that could be worked with.
LNER Azuma 801211 follows the storm clouds south through the Vale of Mowbray with 1E21 1530 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross. 6th May 2026.
Another photo from our neighbourhood on Eigerøy island from one of the January storms.
It is taken from the same spot as the November heron i posted last night.
The rock is called Seglsteinen (the sail rock).

Another one from Mahon Pool, Maroubra taken on weekend.
Daytime lightning strikes close to the Queensland — New South Wales border. Out of season hot weather coupled with high humidity create the perfect conditions for a thunderstorm. At left are the remains of a lovely hot day and to the right the boisterous storm that rocked the Queensland Gold Coast. The lightning struck from the trailing edge of the storm which was passing overhead by this time.

Inspired by the stormy conditions lately I dove into the archives and found all of this nice stuff laying around! Definitely need to get out more in ‘bad weather’ as it makes for great atmospherical images…

Just before sunset these rather ominous clouds rolled in accompanied by thunder. We got no more than a smidgen of rain, though. This morning we are back to plenty of heat and high humidity; yuck!
Huge Lightning storm in NJ last night. About 30 of 100 photos I took last night had lightning strikes
Sorry to those that have already seen this. I received some constructive critiques and realized that I had made some major mistakes. One in particular was the lack of visibility of the lightening bolt. Hopefully this corrects that and makes this a "brighter" picture.
This was a new experience for me and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Even though out of the 5 days we basically only had one night of actual lightening bolts to chase....what a night it was. Danilo Faria and I followed this storm to a playa for a sunset and potential storm. As the sun began to set in the west the storm also began to build.Perfect timing. That storm continued further to the right to where it wrapped around us. And where there wasn't a storm there was fantastic color. This experienced may have bumped my Bandon sunset three years ago out of the number one spot. If nothing else it became a Visa moment for sure.
