Not much to see; however, 2 miles South of where this image was taken a tornado crossed a major road. From my location this is about all one can see if a tornado was coming. 2 miles from my place is cutting things a bit close.

After a short but violent rain storm this summer we looked up to see this amazing and surreal cloud formation as the storm was fading!

Gosh, what a weekend - I see some of my Instagram friends saying it was the most amazing sunrise in such a long time on Saturday morning in Sydney and up north - all the while I was down south sitting in a beachside carpark with mist, grey, drizzle and a few surfers next to me turning around to go home and to go back to bed. You know, I think it was the worst sunrise or break of day I have ever experienced...now I know where the expression 'dems the breaks' comes from...haha !!
The evening before as I was on my way back to the hotel after the sunset fizzler I just had - I spotted 5 minutes of a great sky happening in the opposite direction of the beach. You gotta grab what you can when you've been dealt a fizzler .
I love those bubbly clouds - its like a sky orchestra - so many things going on. Thanks to colour efex - which I have now ventured into after a rainy day in Sydney - for giving it that little bit of 'je ne sais quoi' (and I mean that - I am still figuring it all out) - so bear with me as I get a grip on it all .
Hello to all my new flickr friends after Featherlight was explored - seems like everyone loves a good looking blonde bird ;) - thank you all for dropping by :)
A second shot from Godrevy beach, this was taken as we were packing up to head to our next location. The incoming clouds were really dark and full of rain. We just missed a good soaking as the main bulk of the cloud was over towards St Ives.
Back in summer 2019 I had an idea to go up to bamburgh for sunset and see what I could make of Lindisfrane castle from stag rock, as it happens not a lot. The photo I had in my head just wasn’t there, I had under estimated the distance. I’d arrived at 8pm so I busied myself making the best of the evening, catching the last of the sun on Bamburgh castle and talking photos of Lindisfarne across Budle bay. Then at about ten past nine I saw a storm in the west heading for the Island. I sat and watched the storm slowly approach for about an hour, as awesome as it was photographically I didn’t know what to do with it other than occasionally snap a photo. At about 10pm I took this photo and shortly after than I left to travel down the coast for my sunrise adventure. I left Bamburgh totally amazed at what I had witnessed but creatively underwhelmed, I had the feeling I had wasted a great moment. After a short sleep in the car it was time to start my sunrise adventure, which was great and I forgot about my disappointment of the night before. This has happened to me before, I witness a sublime event and the best I can do is point and snap rather than use it more creatively, I suppose this is what separate the artists from the snappers.

Talk about being disappointed. Lightning is by far my favorite thing to capture. If you have watched my video on this day on my Facebook Link, you would find about 30 images that I didn't have focused. Talk about wanting to shoot my self in the foot. It would have been some of my best captures to date.....
I did redeem myself though. The storm was still firing off a ton of cg lightning. Refocused my lens and captured these final shots of day.

Stormcloud, seen from East Point near the Military Museum.
East Point, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, Jan. 2016
A monochrome version in square format. Just after this I slipped in mud landing on the lens but no permanent injuries done :)
Another from our wild weather yesterday...in colour! The distant lighthouse clouds looks so tiny under the weight of that cloud. The weather has been even worse today.
